You can really see how deep the hole is for the parking garage

(HUGE nerd) So excited for the crane jump. Seeing a crane at ~500' above the Clayton skyline is going to be so cool.

The crane would be one of the tallest structures in the St Louis region.

They added a fairly interesting and heavy duty steel structure bump out near the top of the SE corner. It’s just floating there in mid air. Perhaps this will be a crane connection point so they can jump up another 100 feet or so?

This next jump should see a lot more interest from the general public in the size of the project.

It's interesting how far behind the steel is lagging the core. Is this similar to construction of Centene 1? I cannot recall offhand.

Centene 1 didn’t have a central core like this.

Anyone have any inside info into the timing of the crane jump? Would be cool to see.

New vantage point. You can also see the First Bank tower crane in the distance.

I like big holes almost as much as I like big cranes. That's a pretty impressive hole.

For those who are interested, it didn't happen this weekend. Not sure if weather or logistics played a part, but no jump in height just yet!

Crane jump is happening right now. They also added a new construction camera that shows the parking garage pit, but it has some fantastic views of just how high the tower crane is getting (great for watching the crane jump imo).

So I've watched the camera stills frame by frame from Sunday and while I can see the tower crane lifting extension pieces up to the top, the next frame shows the jump in height and for the life of me I can't figure out how they stick these pieces in. Is the cab lifting itself and somehow inserting the new piece? And if so, what keeps the whole thing from toppling while another piece is bolted into what I would assume to be an insertion gap? I don't see any other assisting / temporary cranes?

It's all done by an "outer shell" of sorts that is at the top of the crane. While not the cab itself, there's a piece that essentially wraps around the central structure that is hollow and can lift the cab and crane arm up so that the new section can be added to the top. The lifting shell then lets the cab and crane rest back down so it can move up to the next level and the process starts again.

Here's a youtube video that makes a lot more sense than my nonsense (start at minute 2:00)... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RB91Sm-kGJ8

No need to watch the stills....Just select the live video feed option.

Is EB Forsyth closed east of Hanley? That seems like kind of a pain.

No. One lane is open. Where it shows a left turn lane west bound is east bound right now. There are a bunch of small posts dividing it you cant see in the pic.

The view from the top of my block in U City shows the crane almost as high as the Plaza.

Wellbridge has been advertising an August 2018 opening for their new facility in the new Centene Tower. As a reminder, they’re opening in the shorter norther section along Forsyth next to their current building.

I could see the 212 Clayton and now the Centene tower rise from my couch. Pretty cool.
