Got friends who are about to break ground on a new house in the area and believe it was on one of three lots that the builder/developer was putting together with at least another house going in for sure. The builder was waiting on permits as well as 10 yr tax abatement. I believe the friends are committed with builder and banker. A 10 year abatement was added plus
Want to say it is one of these houses but their house plans had bay window(s) versus the double porch. but in general same house dimensions and alley garage/lot layout Will have to ask them the address of their new home. Could be mistaken
Anyone interested in the history of the Skinker/DeBaliviere neighborhood should check out the online archives of The Times of Skinker DeBaliviere. Some fun stuff, such as arguments about street barricades, gentrification, MetroLink, etc. They seem to have everything back to the 1970s.
Fascinating stuff in those issues.
The first one talks about demolishing two "obsolete" buildings on the SW corner of Delmar and Skinker for a Jack in the Box. The JITB didn't happen, but the demoes did and now we have the fenced-off barely-used AT&T parking lot.
Just walked by to check this one out and it's actually a very misleading layout. There's no second floor and at best the space above the garage is for storage (think a few boxes, probably less than 100-150 cubic feet). The windows appear to be for aesthetic purposes only.
