They did nice little windows then seemed to stop there. a little ornamentation or cornice would have went a long way.

Yes, a frequent tragedy that breaks my heart.
Another house recently sold on the block for $218/sf, which would put this at $799k. Which still sounds ridiculous.

What makes or breaks what should be a million dollar property for me is the finishes and touches in the kitchen, bathroom and what the yard looks like. This screams $500k at most.
