What a b****. I hate anti-growth, anti-progressive, job crushers like her. 
I would love to know if she's a St. Louis-area native or did she move to St. Louis from the backwoods of Missouri.
These people help to keep St. Louis stuck in 1904. There's nearly $800-million being invested with this project, but you are complaining about a $73-million abatement? That's only ten percent of the overall investment.
The City of Clayton BOA kicked their asses by the unanimous vote in favor of the project. She lost and now she's among the few that are left barking like wounded puppies.
I honestly think these people want kickbacks for their silence - a Mercedes? A Bentley? I wonder about these folks.
It might be unnecessary, but it sure would be nice if St. Louis City countered with a nice, irresistible package.

^ your bringing up Centene in the City makes me wonder what things would have been like down at BPV if they had decided to make the move back in '09 or whenever it was... with their explosive growth the past few years I could kind of see an alternative universe where BPV already is largely built out with mixed-uses and it being difficult for Centene to expand there. So they take up some space in the still solid, but lower-energy Clayton CBD.

Eh. Here's a nice little bio about the lady from a few years ago. I'm just guessing here but I could see her motivation stemming from her feeling like a David vs. Goliath, small private practice of doctors whose business is becoming increasingly expensive vs. the huge medical corporations getting all kinds of tax breaks from local, state, federal government.

From what I know, groundbreaking is set for February. I'm not sure from the ACA aspect of things, but I do know the expansion is to proceed as planned.chaifetz10 wrote:Any word or movement on this? ^Yes there is, but that doesn't really connect to Centene at this stage of the game.

ACA (Ambetter) membership is north of 1mil members now but is still just a small portion of Centene's business. "Construction crews are scheduled to begin excavation and shoring February 1 and foundation work in April. Construction of phase 1, which will include an office tower, parking garage, and retail space, is expected to be mostly complete in 2019. Construction of phase II, which is now split into three parts and includes another office tower, structured parking, the auditorium and retail space would begin in late 2019 and mostly completed by 2022."
^Interesting. That's a different timeline than the more tiered approach which nextstl previously posted.

From a friend who is close to the process, he says construction begins tomorrow, and that two tower cranes will be up by late March.

Doubtful. This has already been approved. They have permits to do the foundation work already if I'm not mistaken. The only way forward for the opposition is to delay the latter parts of the project, which even then my friend says those are a done deal. A different thought, does this conveniently set up the group to oppose the high rise development proposed on Clayton's city owned property? In other words, the group knows Centene is green lighted but uses Centene as pretext for next round of Clayton CBD development??
