It puts downward pressure on the market, brings in more tax dollars, and doesn't displace existing residents. I take your point about the macroeconomic environment and inequality but I'm not seeing a direct connection here, other than being exclusive to high-income earners, but so it goes. There are 4 affordable housing units being constructed what 7-8 blocks south? We can walk and chew gum at the same time

Well my parents, who jointly are millionaires, have paid tens of thousands of dollars in taxes to the city of St. Louis over the course of their nearly 25 years living together in the city, my mom owned a small service business for nearly 30 years in the city, theyve donated tens of thousands of dollars to chairitable organizations in STL. So I would say "daddy" has done more for me, and the city, than I can ever fully appreciate. And theres thousands of people like my parents who live in St. Louis and are an integral part of how the city functions and how it might be able to rebound in the future.
