Can you connect several laptops/PCs with BPL? Im @ The Bogen and we will have this same set up....Im curious....
Feel free to PM me since this discussion has sort of run its course
Yup. The BPL is a "shared" network, which essentially gets slower as more people are added to it. At this point, I can see 15 "secured" wireless connections in the Ventana
. At least I am glad that people are not letting the connecetions wide open.
Does anyone know what's going in on the 1st floor of the Ventana? I just walked by and noticed quite a bit of construction has already taken place.
from our"the residents" understanding, it is the offices for the company that handles the green power credits for Ameren...not sure of their name. They will occupy only half of the first floor retail space though, the other half is still for lease.

They may have opened last night as there were people milling about all over the place. I got something in the mail regarding this service a few weeks back, but didn't really look at it too hard.
Any idea how much room is left for another space?

Actually, the company is 3degrees inc, they are partnered with Ameren to help market Pure Power. 3degrees held an open house last night (their offices are rather stark IMO).

Pure Power from AmerenUE
In October 2007, 3Degrees launched its newest green pricing program to 1.2 million electric customers in Missouri. Pure Power is one of the largest utility-marketer partnerships ever offered.
Pure Power is open to all residents, businesses, and industrial customers that receive electric power from AmerenUE. Pure Power supports Missouri’s first utility-scale wind farm – stimulating demand for new renewable sources in the state. Through public education and a broad array of renewable marketing strategies, Pure Power has already gained a high level of visibility, recognition, and momentum within the local community. 3Degrees procures Green-e Energy Certified® RECs for the program and operates an office in St. Louis to support the success of Pure Power.
To enroll or learn more, visit www.ameren.com/purepower or call 1-866-665-PURE (7873). Customers can also enroll by checking the Pure Power box on their monthly power bill.
back to "The Ventana" now... Are any of these floor plans any good for a 2 bedroom... apart from the roof top pool... is this building desirable?
There are several units with a 2 bed config. The building and the residents (biased view here) are great. Rooftop pool is awesome.
I think you can get a deal almost anywhere right now What "I" personally like about the Ventana (pretty unique) are the beautiful views of North city from some units. The balcony units are defintely worth the price they are asking.
Assoc dues are reatively very cheap. I pay < $200 covering eveything except electricity (cable, high speed internet, trash, pool maintenance, insurance, etc.). Another unique feature is a "central loop" heating and cooling, which in theory saves big on electric bills.

I have the "J" unit built out as a 2 bedroom, we love it. The second bedroom also provides another large closet for us, whihc we love as well. It functions as my wifes office as well as a guest bedroom. THere are a lot of other floorplans I have seen configured with 2 bedrooms that look great as well.
what is happening at this place right now? Cops are everywhere securing the building.

I'm really getting sick and tired of this sh*t.
unbelievable guys. no safe place. Ridiculous as this is, let's hope they can find out what the hell happenned.
How can there be so many murderers? U lock one up behind bars and 3 more follow in his footsteps.... Un-f***ing believable.....
Though there are more important issues at hand (i.e. that this gets sorted out, the victims friends and family see justice) this definately is not going to help the slowdown in the condo market....

Police declined to release his identity pending notification of family.
Gieseke said the man was not a resident of the Ventana but apparently knew one of the residents. The woman who found the body didn’t know him, and Gieseke said no one saw a crime committed or anyone fleeing the garage.
Asked whether the man may have been robbed, Gieseke said, "His personal effects appear to be undisturbed." He said police had no motive for the killing.
The two garage doors on the back of the building usually remain closed and are activated by residents driving in and out. Residents said they were not aware of any crimes or problems in or near their building.
AdvertisementCapt. Jerry Leyshock, downtown district patrol commander said, "We haven’t heard a peep out of this building. There is good security in these buildings and the area, and there are few problems."
Gieseke said officers were interviewing residents and will continue canvassing the area today.

I always hope these things are something other than random. Doesn't help the victim much but ...
JESUS, I am P*SSed.
They better find out who did it/ what happened.
I am now all for installing cameras all over washington Ave, and the side streets. Not as a preventative measure (well it probably will) but more of a detective measure so no one can get away with this.
Right now, I am really hoping it was his friend or someone he knows that did it...

Damn weird watching the news tonight. First, they have the reports of the murder from outside the Ventana, in the parking lot west of Ely Walker which I could see from my windows. Then, the news broadcasts went to the return of Mayor Swoboda in Kirkwood after Cookie shot up the town council meeting, with the reports being done just outside my friend's suburban windows across the street.
So, if these are my options, I'll stay Downtown without a second thought.
My prayers to the family of the departed.
EDIT: Remember, if things get too heavy, there's always http://www.stlccw.com.
After all, the impetus for the legislation was from an incident at the Shell station along Tucker a little over ten years ago. I'd be damn curious to know how many loft residents in the area have attended and are actively ascribing to it.

Thanks for the info, but I think I will look into getting one of these:
http://www.taser.com/products/consumers/Pages/C2.aspx
GF has one. It is pretty cool. Can shoot up to 15 feet. Just as effective, if not more so. (Sometimes when you get shot and the bullet goes right through you, you sometimes dont even know you were shot, at least with this the subject can't even move for 30 secs.)
