I love the fact that an entire block is being redone with this building. The Gateway Cup bicycle races had a race in front of this building last August - it will be great to see some action on the site if they return this year! For all of our frustrations things are happening very quickly in StL.

No gateway cup on Washington this year. I think they moved that race to Clayton.

That probably makes sense with the construction going on. I hope they return to Wash Ave in another year or two to see all the changes!

This is huge for DT west of 14th. Can't wait to see what kind of tenants they'll draw. Any requests/ideas/rumors?

A bicycle shop would be nice.

I wish Mike Weiss at Big Shark could be convinced to open another location.

Good article about this building in the new Business Journal. I didn't see a completion date. Anyone have an idea on that? I wouldn't think this building would take too long renovate. They are also going to convert Washington Ave. from 4 to 2 lanes on this block. That will be good for pedestrian and retail development.

Ok, I see now Spring of 08. for completion

Lots of work underway - tuckpointing, windows have been removed, some of the roof tiles have been removed (and will presumably be put back once repairs have been made to the roof).

Drove by this saturday. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of work under way. This is a crucial redevelopment to bridge into the west loft district.

October 11th 2007. It looks like there may be a lot of retail here.

It's an absolutely enormous building.

This will give people on Washington Avenue a destination west, increasing the street traffic on the western portion of Wash Ave, which is much quieter than the eastern part of the street.

Wow this building looks good, but I can't help but think that this would look better say at Kingshighway and Chippewa. It just looks out of place on Wash ave. Nonetheless, I look forward to seeing the tenant lineup.

IMO, this building will have an enourmous effect in DTWest... It should really be the center of the neighborhood.

They have put some glass in the front windows on the Western End of the building. Looking good.

The rendering on the site looks nice. It looks like they're making progress as well.

According to their site:
Customer Parking: Ample customer parking on streets and nearby lots

My first thought was, "Ya think?". I looked at the satellite image and there is some parking available in the area, although certainly not as bad as some parts of St. Louis.

It does look like the place is surrounded by 3 parking lots, so that shouldn't be a problem. There's 2 more parking lots nearby.

To the left, right, and north of the building is parking. Also, diagonal to the parking lot on the left are two more parking lots. If you scroll up you'll see a couple of empty grassy lots as well.

Ya, parking won't be a problem.

If for some reason the link doesn't work just type 2020 Washington into the little search window. The 2020 Washington Lofts are right there nearby.

This is a sad sight as well, just north of Pruitt-Igoe.

Here's the builtstlouis.net page of the area

Has anyone had contact with the developers on this? I emailed weeks ago and have yet to receive a response.

I'm glad the renovation on this is continuing successfully. It's such a unique building, and I think its revival will make a wonderful contribution to the area, architecturally and commercially.

Are the street lights out front new? They look nice but I am not sure if they have been there a little while or not.

They are brand new, and look VERY nice.

I like those better than the ones with the reflector thingys

Also there are vinelike paintings across several of the front windows, looks like a new retailers doings..

Not sure who may be moving in, but it is a good chunk of the space which looks to be leased out already.. AWESOME!!!!

I walked by on Sunday, and they are definitely making progress. I think it'll help the entire stretch of Washington Avenue because many people come from 20th Street (after existing Hgwy 40) and the Tudor Building is the first thing they see when turning onto Washington.
