Very disappointed to see that the next four floors will be wood-frame. I thought this one was gonna be all concrete. Sigh.

Would say yes and no. Yes, on the construction and end producte. No on the fact that the concrete platform/wood frame construction gets the cost to the point that financing/economics make project viable.... If you can keep the wood from catching on fire during build out. The latest and greatest wood frame fire in KC was a doozy

Starting to relate to other buildings. Love the skinny view of Executive House in the background. Now if we could figure out how to get rid of those overhead wires/cables.

That sucks. They went to a wooden upper floor plan.

High rise it is not. Still very exciting though.
Also, I could really go for a Shack Burger and chocolate shake right now.

I realize it's weird getting excited for fast food, but that Smokeshack burger is just too good.

Kaldi's seems to be growing quite quickly - I think 5 locations opened/opening in the past year, 4 of which locally?

That street wall along Lindell is just so strong. So eclectic. 20's, 60's, 70's, 00's, 10's all represented. Great to see it "completed" with the Citizen Park addition.

'ZZA Pizza + Salad joins Shake Shack, Kaldi's in Central West End development

'ZZA Pizza + Pasta opened at 282 North Skinker Boulevard only seven weeks ago, but owner Chris Sommers is ready to reveal a future location of his fast-casual concept: the Euclid, the mixed-use building now under construction at the corner of North Euclid Avenue and West Pine Boulevard.

As previously announced, the Euclid will also be home to the area's first Shake Shack, the fast-food sensation from St. Louis native and superstar restaurateur Danny Meyer, as well as to a location of Kaldi's Coffee Roasting Co.

The Euclid is leasing retail like crazy, months before completion, and yet still no word from Citizen Park, which is basically finished.

Most likely because they have no one leased.

There's a Walgreen's rumor for Citizen's Park... would seem like a good site for that

Anybody else think this could/should be more like 10-14 stories tall?

Fine with height as you got the One Hundred coming and still have Koplar's prime Lindell/Kingshighway lot to be developed not to mention opportunities with Foundry phase II and or Cortex to add height. Build your wall next to forest park and having some 6-10 story infill behind it is a good outcome IMO

The southwest corner of Lindell and Euclid would be a good spot for a highrise as well.

12 stories is the max for that section of Euclid. I think 6 stories is great there. It adds density while not making Euclid a total tunnel. However, I'd like to see the full 14 stories on the southeast and southwest corners of Lindell & Euclid.

A higher building here could have a couple negative effects.

a) it could dwarf and put at risk the 2 story historic gems at Laclede and Euclid.
b) the inflated parking requirements for a taller building would pretty much kill any pedestrian scale at the ground floor.

(The second is one of my peeves with any new high rise. Modern parking accommodation make the lower floors less inviting than they could be. Its pretty awful walking past blank walls, fake window panels and gaping entrances to parking garages)
