It's such a big tease. You know they're there, but you can't see them.

I don't know. I guess I'll find out tomorrow.

Thanks. I'm very excited. I doubt I'll sleep tonight. I'm guessing stlchristy is going to start asking for pictures. Don't worry, I'll post some.

HAHA! :) We're 3 weeks from tomorrow, so we don't have too long now. One thing we're curious about, Brian, is if the wall between your unit and ours is brick? We found out that the one between us and 508 is brick. That will really help with the sound.

It's not, I remember looking through that empty space during my walkthrough and seeing it open in other pictures. So you have to deal with all of my wild parties.

They're still tight lipped about the retail tenants. If I here something is official I'll let you know. I haven't even heard many rumors recently.

i've been in 207 and 307 and both are brick on the north walls. i would imagine that 507 is the same.

EDIT: not that that would matter because you are in 509.

Christy,

You're in 509, aren't you? If so, the wall you share with 508 isn't brick. Their south wall is brick (the one they share with 507). I believe the wall between X07 and X08 is the only brick dividing wall in the building. Anyone know anything different?

Three weeks, though? Time went pretty fast, huh? Good luck with the move!

yes. she is. :P

^you are correct.

507 is a really cool unit. it has a unique brick corridor entry way. sort of a foyer i guess. i liked it. great opportunity for a few pieces of nice artwork before leading into the loft. I have not seen the other floors, but i assume all the x07 units have this feature?

that entry is super cool. in 207 it has a short ceiling and a crawl space above it.

Yeah. I don't have the crawl space like 207, but my ceilings are 13 feet high and the entrance is all brick. i had the closet more than doubled in size, so i have some nice storage space and still have plenty of room for a desk, two chairs and art work.

Awesome! I'm excited to get neighbors. It's kinda boring on the North Side right now. I have some pictures, but in the move I've misplaced the cord to connect my camera to my printer. When I find it I'll post a few pics.

Hi all. Sorry to break in to this conversation, but I'm a soon-to-be Dorsa buyer, and I have a couple of questions for those in Bankers:

1) To anyone who bought their own appliances and had the "standard" appliances left in their boxes to be resold ... how did you resell them, and did you get decent prices for them?

2) What's the final verdict on the concrete floor sealing? Crappy job? And how difficult is it to coordinate a staining with Pyramid? Did you have to let them do their thing, and then come in with your own people?

3) Do the walls in the bathrooms go all the way to the ceiling? Or is there a lower, false ceiling put over them? Or do the walls just stop 3 feet shy of the ceiling, like they do in other rooms?

Thanks

Hi JimJim15. I bought my own appliances (except for the stove) and didn't have the standard appliances left in their boxes, so maybe lost out for not doing that, but I am very happy with the appliances I bought and didn't really have the time to deal with selling other appliances.

There are some residents that have redone their floors and they look awsome, but I didn't do that and am very satisfied with the way they turned out. I think if you have a pet it's maybe a good idea to have them redone, but I haven't had any problem with staining in my loft and the longer I'm here, the more sheen the floors seem to take on.

The walls on the outside of the bathroom go all the way to the ceiling, but there's a false ceiling in the bathrooms. I like the look from the outside and if they'd done the same with the second bedroom, probably would have had it put in before I moved in.

From what I'm hearing, Bankers residents are loving living here so I'm sure you'll be very happy with your loft, too. Good luck!

JimJim,

i was able to find someone on craigslist who was interested. he was rehabbing a bunch of apartments so he is probably looking for more. unfortunately, i lost his contact info.

i'd just post what you have on craigslist and see if he pops up again. who knows. just make sure that pyramid delivers the appliances in the box to make sure you get the most $$$ for them.

good luck!

A quick question for the dog owners in Bankers: Where do you take your dogs out? I have seen people heading north from the building, but I am not sure where they are heading. Is it a park? How many blocks away? Is it safe?

Thanks for any clarification!

the holiday inn is just 1 block north from bankers and has a good sized grassy area around it. it's pretty well lit because a lot of convention attendees have to walk down that same path to get to america's center.

also, my dogs have learned to go on the sidewalk and on the grates. just make sure you pick up after your dog regardless of where they go... it's not just a good idea, it's the law.

as far as safety, i feel like it's just as safe as anywhere downtown. i wouldn't go any further north than around the holiday inn, but there's no reason to.

see pic from google maps below....

There's been some talk about putting a dog park somewhere downtown. Has anyone heard about this and if so, where are the proposed sites?

PostOct 10, 2006#650

STL Christy...you're in now, right? How'd the move go? Hope it wasn't too bad with one elevator out all weekend!
