State Rep. Shamed Dogan announced his candidacy today. The gist from the media is that Dogan will work to build a a bipartisan coalition to win next year and that he looks to build that coalition in South, West, and North County. I think he should be taken more seriously than Paul Berry, who just seemed to ride on the fact that there were no real republican challengers the past two elections for County Executive. As for how close this election will be, I guess it depends on if Dogan can form his bipartisan coalition.

Dogan has a trump problem. He has a primary and he will have to go full cult to survive it. You cannot go full cult then pretend like it didn’t happen for general. Page 57-42
I’ve had a few drinks so maybe this is ridiculous…but I think Nicole Galloway would be a stellar STL County Executive.

^I'd buy that. Not that I've any reason to think she wants to run, but I think she'd be stellar at the job. Is she around here these days?
^ I think she lives in Columbia. I’m also under absolutely no impression she’d even be interested. But she’s got good name recognition, she’d be popular with most County voters and after the Stenger years her auditing and investigative chops would probably do the County pretty well.

She used to show up at Boone County Dems to help out with mailings and canvases fairly regularly, so I assumed she was in CoMO. (Or nearby at least.) She was there as recently as last summer when I went down to help a friend running for judge. But people do show up from out of town sometimes. (When their friends are running for judge, for instance.)
She is from Columbia. She was Boone County Treasurer prior to Nixon appointing her State Auditor following the Republicans bullying Tom Schweich into killing himself.
^ She was born and raised in St. Louis County (Fenton) and went to Ursuline. Worked at Brown Smith Wallace in Creve Coeur before transitioning into Boone County government in 2011.
I did not know that, just was familiar with her professional credentials when she was appointed auditor. Certainly covering Ursuline with greater glory as compared to Wagner and Cor Jesu.sc4mayor wrote: ↑Sep 15, 2021^ She was born and raised in St. Louis County (Fenton) and went to Ursuline. Page crushes Dueker. Imagine pissing money away on her campaign.
Shamed Dogan lost probably because of his name.
Katherine Pinner somehow will reduce taxes and repair county roads for free I guess
She'll "Ensure that children of St. Louis County tax payers receive a quality education" though she's not running for school board so :/

I’m just shocked at Katherine Pinner winning. I never heard of her and she somehow comes and wins against Shamed in a landslide. And he was out there doing some door knocking too. To my knowledge, she wasn’t. She even said in an interview with the Call newspaper that she wasn’t going to accept donations or anything. So she pulled that win off without spending or raising anything. But yes, you’re probably right that it came down to the name. Precinct by precinct results though, Shamed didn’t even win his entire district in Ballwin.

This is simple, nobody outside his district knew him (he was a state rep). I mean I’m in tune with politics and city politics but I couldn’t name all STL city state reps and I can’t imagine anyone in the county knowing a state rep outside their own if they even know that. He didn’t camapign much thinking it was a cake walk, well if you don’t know either candidate and you’re staring at something called Shamed Dogan and a Katherine Pinner you are probably going to select Katherine.
I only voted for Shamed because before I got out of my car at the polling place I googled candidates and saw an interview he did he seemed fairly centered in it and I couldn’t find anything quickly on Katherine. Otherwise I wouldn’t have voted for that spot at all. Probably a few ad buys would have gone a long way for him. I always find it odd voting for a race if you don’t know anything on the candidates, especially in these times when a candidate for a party can have a very wide opinion.

The STL County GOP is heading in the same direction as their counterparts in STL City--complete irrelevance by nominating unknowns and crackpots.
Dogan was their last exit ramp and they blew past it.

Pinner was interviewed on 97.1/Marc Cox show today. Her first interview. Wild. But I found it of interest to post here.

Pinner dropped out today
I would like to start a conspiracy theory that she was hired by Sam Page to defeat Shamed Dogan, who had a shot but a slim one at winning. She did and now that her usefulness is over, she dropped out.
^ That’s stupid.
She barely campaigned, even her neighbors didn’t know she was running. The GOP establishment didn’t even know who she was.
Don’t make mountains out of molehills. She was a total idiot and the lawsuit she filed against her formal employer was batshit insane.
People in West County saw “Shamed” on the ballot and voted with the old white lady. Simple as that.

So does Shamed then get her spot? Or there just isn’t a R on the ballot?
https://www.stltoday.com/news/local/gov ... -top-storyArtman said that once Pinner removes her name from the ballot, the county party will issue a call for new candidates, interview them, and nominate one to succeed Pinner.
"We are just not going to hand it over to Sam Page," she said.
Attempts to reach Pinner on Thursday evening and Friday morning were unsuccessful.
