I certainly have no problem with St. Louis being used as a double for other cities. The important thing is that we're a welcoming, cost-efficient place to shoot movies. If this remains the case (has anyone heard about the additional tax credits from the state?) we'll have our share of films that are set in St. Louis and elsewhere in Missouri.
I'm penning a horror film set in St. Louis right now. It's called "Blairmont!". Moooo wahhhh hahhh hahhh haaaa

Its like filming in Toronto, but doubling it for New York City or Chicago. I just wish a film would showcase STL to its glory. The movie "The Big Brass Ring" did, but then again that movie sucked.

Aren't Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon involved somehow? (I thought they were married) Not sure why Jack would be here, though. I guess once the Lakers got knocked out of the playoffs he had nothing better to do....
Tim Robbins lives in New York City with actress Susan Sarandon, with whom he has been involved since their meeting on the set of Bull Durham in 1988. They have two sons: Jack Henry (born 1989) and Miles Guthrie (born 1992).
Is anyone else going to be an extra for "The Return?" I figured I'd give it a shot and I'll be an extra at the airport tomorrow.
While torturing myself with Fox 2 "news" this morning (as is my custom; I find that anger has basically the same effect as coffee without staining my teeth) I saw a segment on Tim Robbins in Edwardsville. Apparently the other night (last night?) he decided to sit in with a band at some bar over there. They showed a clip of him playing "Brown Eyed Girl" that somebody had shot with a camcorder or cellphone or something. Everybody was totally rockin out to this totally kick-ass and not at all generic performance.
The Belleville News Democrat has a story, and images, if you're interested in reading it.
Actors do this kind of thing all the time. People will watch this movie, only because they saw Tim Robbins at a bar in their hometown, without even knowing the plot. A part of an actor's job is to help market the film. This sort of thing is obviously more effective in "Middle America."

You mean I missed yet another rendition of "Brown Eyed Girl" by yet another dreadful cover band? I bet the mullets were bouncing on the dance floor!

Nope, refined.
It's a first! Scrutinizer managed to diss the you-know-whos without actually using the word "hoosier".
As of last Friday, the producers of the movie had left a local restaurateur in the lurch for a $6,000 tab. It's nice to have movies made in town, but I'm wondering how much of such behavior goes on during production.

They "walked the tab"???

I wonder what the world record is for a "dine and dash"?

Sounds like typical miscommunication from typical film makers. There's always that one guy who covers responsibility in the film world, and I'm willing to bet everyone at that table thought the other guy was going to cover it. I’m not saying what they did was ok. It was stupid, but I bet it wasn’t intentional. It sounds more like it was careless and very cliché film industry incident.

After seeing the trailer, I'm not sure I would want to.
LOL. CS, are you kidding? God, that looked like a great comedy. Who wouldn't want to see Kristy Swanson and Judd Nelson star in that riveting movie? Plus, it's got the STL all over it!
Black Hole
I watched that with a bunch of friends since it was set here, if you can laugh at B budget movies it is well worth the time.
Tip: Look for the arch to be visible in good shape in a shots background after it is destroyed.

Apparently they are filming some reality show in town. Two of my buddies were approached by these three bombshells about it. They couldn't remember the name, but it had the word "farmer" in the name. It could be "farmer wants a wife." Not to be confused with "Framer wants a wife"
