It sounded like its coming through St. Louis, but not filming the entire thing here. Is that the case?

Xing, what do you know of the project?

It sounds like a road trip movie. Apparently they're also shooting in Las vegas and a few other cities.

Yes, it is a road trip movie. I believe that's a good way to slowly work St Louis into people's minds. You throw it out in a movie where its the main star, and I dont think people will take it quite too seriously yet. I think they'll be shooting at Lambert, and then it sounds like they get stuck in STL for a few days. The casting is a hint, in my opinion, because they were looking for airport workers, construction workers, and then business types, and rich looking people... for whatever reason. I guess you just have to put the puzzle together, and take a guess.

Chicago is the main City (suburban I think), with St. Louis, Denver, and Las Vegas as the road trip cities.

Has anyone heard of a movie shooting in St. Louis featuring Adam Sandler, Morgan Freeman, Owen Wilson, and Tom Arnold? A coworker of mine was telling me of a radio interview she heard this morning (Cornbread?) with Tom Arnold & Adam Sandler. Supposedly they were both in town filming, getting ready to head to the airport. I didn't see anything on imdb.com about it, nor could I find anything on Cornbread's site. Anyone?

I haven't heard about it. It will come up again. ^ I don't even know what Cornbread is, besides a tasty bread that goes well with a nice summer meal.

VERY BIG NEWS FOR MISSOURI, and St. Louis.

Legislative update: HB 327, an economic development bill containing legislation to increase the annual film tax credits to $10.5 million, passed the house and senate last Thursday and was sent to the governor for his signature. The governor has until June 30 to sign the bill. The bill also makes some other significant changes to the existing tax credit statute, including: eliminating a per-project cap (currently the cap is $1 million in credits per project); reducing the minimum Missouri expenditure to $50,000 for projects 30 minutes and under and $100,000 for projects over 30 minutes (currently the minimum for all productions is $300,000); and reducing the percentage of Missouri expenditures awarded as tax credits to 35 percent (currently productions receive 50 percent of their

Missouri expenditures in tax credits).

This morning, I came into work and my coworker was listening to 92.3 and Cornbread (morning DJ) was in the studio with Adam Sandler and Tom Arnold. They were in the studio today from 7:00-8:30 asking for suggestions on things to do in St. Louis. Adam said he would get Christopher Walken in the studio tomorrow. He also said that Al Pacino would be coming into STL tomorrow to shoot his portion of whatever film they are all shooting together. Pacino's role is supposed to be comparable to Jack Nicholson's role in "Anger Management"

Also, Adam said that he and Tom were going to head down to Laughs on the Landing sometime this week, but wouldn't say when. Also, he and Tom are going to Fast Eddies today for lunch.

Still can't find anything about this movie anywhere, but it is quite an impressive cast.

Tell me about it! ^ We have this many films going on now, imagine what would happen after the governor approves the increase in tax credits. It could be huge.

Sandler and Arnold don't have anything that fits the bill on IMDB.com. But Christopher Walken is listed in this movie listed below.

Sounds like a road trip movie. Could easily stop in St. Louis.

having been last updated a few weeks ago and being listed as being in "pre-production," I'm going to guess that isn't the film.

I've been meaning to post a link here. Some of you guys keep talking about working on these films. A good place to look is at this forum - http://www.stlfilmforum.com

It doesn't have much traffic, but they still have casting and crew-calls on the site, and for feature films such as Kingshighway and Bill.

I think I got duped by a comedian doing impressions of those celebrities. I swear to you, however, that I am not stupid. This guy was just really that good. It kind of makes sense, after the fact, that they kept mentioning the comedian's name when they were being interviewed and there has been no news on any new movie in St. Louis. Sorry for any false excitement. I'm mad at myself for spreading the news and buying into it myself.

^ I think you're right. I was flipping thru the radio stations yesterday and stopped because I heard Adam Sandler talking and remembered this thread. Then the interview went on to talk to the guy (who wasn't really Adam Sandler) about doing impersonations and how he doesn't look anything like Sandler... and it went on from there but I changed the station.

Al Pacino and Adam Sandler are at the Clear Channel station in the Highlands. Clear Channel just sent out a building wide email announcing that fact.

Hollywood looks to Edwardsville for scene in Tim Robbins' film

Downtown store sought for filming

BY JENNIFER KAPIOLANI SAXTON

News-Democrat

EDWARDSVILLE --

Even if it's only for a day, Hollywood movie producers want to use downtown Edwardsville on Wednesday for a scene in an upcoming movie.

Producers of "The Return" would like to shoot a few scenes using Main Street and Mojo's Music, a local music business, Mayor Gary Niebur said.

The film portrays three veterans returning from the war in Iraq. They are trying to adjust to civilian life and deal with the trauma of their experiences and find themselves on a cross-country trip, according to an Internet movie site.

Actors Tim Robbins, Rachel McAdams and Michael Pena will star in the film that is set to be released next fall. City officials said at least one of the stars is expected to appear in town.

"We're crossing the river for a few scenes. It's a quick shot in the arm without a lot of impact," said Adam Merims, the producer with Return Productions Inc. of Los Angeles. "We think it's going to be a good fit for the movie. The Main Street where we're going to be has a lot of character."

The movie crew has been in St. Louis for the last two weeks and in Chicago three weeks before that, Merims said.

City officials in Edwardsville were notified this week about the request from the production company.

Robbins' publicist could not be reached for comment.

"Over the last several days, we have learned in more detail the scope of the project and the impact on downtown," Niebur said. "We understand that timing for their schedule is critical. It still has to follow the formal process for street closures."

A special meeting of the Recreation, Arts and Special Events Board was called for 9 a.m. Saturday at City Hall to discuss the requests and possibly forward it to the Edwardsville City Council for its approval Tuesday.

While filming is not expected to take more than a day, the production company has requested the closure of Main Street from Vandalia Street to Hillsboro Street, along with the closure of Vandalia Street to Buchanan Street and St. Louis Street to Randle Street. Parking also would be affected because the request includes the use of a portion of the parking lot behind Mojo's Music. The production company also requests pedestrian traffic be shut off to the area during filming.

Since Main and Vandalia streets are state highways, Niebur said the production company also will need permission from Illinois Department of Transportation for the street closure.

The Edwardsville Police Department has had preliminary discussions with representatives from the company about safety.

Bob Moggio, owner of Mojo's Music at 142 N. Main St., said Liz Goldsmith, the location manager with the company, came into his store Tuesday, explaining they wanted to shoot a scene of the movie in his store.

"She explained what they were doing and that they wanted a scene in a music store near a town square," Moggio said. "They were looking for some place with more of an old school feel."

While the store will be rearranged for the scene, Moggio said, "it is kind of exciting in a way."

"It's a possible chance for publicity for the store," Moggio said. "If everything goes right, they said they should be out of here by the afternoon."

If the city approves the production company's request, the scene will be shot in Edwardsville, but the movie will actually be set in Denver.

"It will probably be a blip on the screen," City Alderwoman Janet Haroian said. "But for the 15 seconds of fame, the kind of establishment they picked, the music store and our downtown, it's a prime location."

drove out to Lone Elk park (I highly recommend going there) today and missed the exit so I had to turn around at Antire rd. There were signs directing people to the set for "The Return."

Speaking of the movie "The Return." I heard on the radio this morning STL will only be backdrops for other cities. They said Edwardsville will be Denver, while Lambert Airport will be portrayed as JFK in New York. Its a movie about soldiers coming back from Iraq and taking a roadtrip.

Just like last year, the movie "Bill" was filmed in STL, but its set in Minneapolis. I wish they have a movie that actually is set here, not use this area as backdrops for other regions or cities. :(

I got a call from a buddy yesterday-Jack Nicholson and Susan Sarandon were eating at Baggio's? in Edwardsville. He was a hyper awkwardly staring annoyance, I'm sure.

Aren't Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon involved somehow? (I thought they were married) Not sure why Jack would be here, though. I guess once the Lakers got knocked out of the playoffs he had nothing better to do....
