If the team is showing up consistently and playing competitively then they deserve some support. The last few weeks have been encouraging I hope people can rally behind the team. It will take a few more wins to really start to generate interest again after crushing the high hopes for a playoff appearance most fans had at the start of this season.

I agree, but they've dug such a huge hole as a franchise, I'm not blaming anyone for not showing up and supporting them just because they're suddenly somewhat competitive.

I'd also disagree with the "last few weeks" statement. They got killed by Kansas City in between a couple of nice wins. Hard to know what this team is right now.

Not-full stadiums might be the trend. Early in the 4th quarter of tonight's Giants/Colts game.

Yes the Colts were up 40-10 at this point: but still it didn't used to be this way.

This guy actually comes out in public, has a personality, unlike Stan.

When I see articles like this, it just angers me. I think, we could have an NFL owner that cares about our city, invests in it, comes out in public, shows a personality....etc...etc... everything Stan Kroenke does not do. Not only is he investing in Jacksonville, but he could have spearheaded getting MLS in STL. I want to cuss very loudly, when I think about what could have been if Shad got the Rams. Instead, we get to deal with what we currently have. I quiet owner that is likely going to move the team out of his home state.
I wanted Shad Khan to become the Rams owner, too. I'm pretty sure the NFL Good Ol' Boys network paved the way for Kroenke, although it didn't hurt that he already owned a large chunk of the Rams in the first place.

It's nice to see Khan putting down some roots in J-ville and making things happen there, but I can't imagine there's any way to make the NFL viable there long-term? I wish there would have been a swap instead- let Kroenke have the Jaguars and move them to LA- and then Khan could have bought the Rams and started building for the team's future and planning for the stadium. I think it's safe to say most politicians, regardless of their party affiliation or their appetite for public funding of sports venues, would much rather deal with Khan than Kroenke.

Better to deal with a man who looks like Panama Jack (at least in that picture of him with the Hawaiian shirt) than one who looks more than just a little bit like the world's most hated dictator.

I think it's funny that we clamor for a guy whose business is in another state, and turn a cold shoulder to the native businessman who played a significant role in bringing the Rams here and actually sits on a committee whose sole purpose is to better the business environment in St. Louis. Furthermore, nothing he has actually said would indicate any move from St. Louis. I realize the silence, strategic moves, lease situation, exercising rights that the region gave him, and his worlwide land and business holdings have depicted him with one eye on the west coast, but part of that comes with having the resources that he does which also allow for our team to not suck as bad as Jacksonville.

^^^Agree with the above picture regarding last night's game. Dweebe, you usually do a good job of posting up to date examples of disappearing fans, and you are right, that behavior is rampant. It sucks because if it wasn't for our lease situation, the media wouldn't think twice about attendence given leauge trends and our poor record over the last number of years.

If/when the team recommits to the region long term, I don't think fans will be as tentative to invest even in the face of mediocrity....at least no more or less than a comparable market given the challenges facing all teams in terms of ticket cost vs television access and the comforts of home.

It's fair to wonder if we should trust Kroenke more than we do, but the point with Khan is that we pretty much KNEW we could trust him. We have no idea about Stan. And it's frustrating.

This isn't new information, but with a Twitter hashtag campaign going around, it came back on my radar. Apparently St. Louis is in the running for one of the Men's Final Four's between 2017-2020.

So they're competing with 7 other metros (Atlanta, Indianapolis, Minneapolis, New Orleans, North Texas, Phoenix/Glendale, San Antonio) for 4 Final Fours.

I find it pretty unlikely they'll land one, what with Atlanta and Minneapolis about to open new venues, and Indianapolis seemingly being a lock for at least one Final Four every round of awarding, and North Texas and Phoenix/Glendale also having new an impressive buildings.

Still, if they did land one, can you imagine how ticked off the Rams would be? They're supposed to be announced sometime in November. I feel like Kroenke would pay the NCAA $50 million just to pass on St. Louis.

Per Jim Thomas on Twitter;
Gov. Nixon to hold press conference tomorrow to discuss Rams and NFL. Stadium info on the way. Been told to expect Gov. Nixon's message to be general but positive, and will stress region's commitment to work on this and keep the Rams. But expectations aren't that Nixon will trot out a model stadium design for the reported stadium site north of Lumiere Place and south of Stan Musial Bridge. (It's a conference call anyway; not an in-person deal.) Although Gov Nixon's comments are expected to be general in nature, a specific stadium plan is expected by end of calendar year, per sources.

I finally got tired of the feeling I was being manipulated by Stan and Kevin, and dropped my PSLs after 19 years. I still buy tickets from a friend of mine and attend some games. Imagine how the owner could get the fans fired up to attend games if it was someone like Kraft in New England. If the Rams did want to actively kill attendance to make a move easier, I'm not sure what they would do that they aren't doing now. They appear to be going through the motions just to get through this season here. I'm afraid this committee will be the same thing -- something the Rams and the Governor can point to and say, well, there was our good faith effort. No more hurdles for a move. Let me know if you hear of anything serious pointing the other way.

The Governor announced that former Anheuser-Busch president Dave Peacock and prominent St. Louis area attorney Bob Bliss will lead the effort to keep St. Louis an NFL city. They'll work over the next 60 days to analyze the situation and determine more concrete possibilities.

The 60 day time frame was chosen because the Rams have set forth a January 28, 2015 date to give notice to the Dome authority whether they will convert their lease year-to-year. (I would assume this would happen no matter what, but I suppose when they do so you don't want them feeling like there are no possibilities in St. Louis.)

I feel pretty good about this now. Dave Peacock is the man.

I'm at 80% Rams to stay after today's announcement...and i'm sure you will have people saying, they are JUST started this....well Dave has been working on Save the Rams plan since at least Nov of 2013, there is a piece on him from Dec 2013 in the biz journal that says this much....and i think Nixon kinda hinted that this can be done without a vote....cant wait for Jan 5th 2015 for the proposed plan.

D'oh!

But 60 days feels like such a short period of time and January isn't supposed to be very close! Holy cow this year is flying.

^^Very good point. I've mentioned Dave Peacock several times in the past. The Biz Journal had him involved 2 years ago, so I'd be shocked if plans have not been in the works for a long time. Shockingly (not really), they had to wait until the mid-term elections passed, so they could go public. If anybody thinks that this was something just put together and they now have 60 days to figure it out, they are clueless. Even Nixon isn't that dumb, to think 60 days would be enough. I think the odds improve that STL will be "an NFL city" but we are still facing a looming move if the region is not able to figure out this situation. Time will tell, but no matter what, we FINALLY have something positive to hang our hats on.

^That article illustrates how much of a mover & shaker Dave P. is. I hope he can get this deal done. This will put him in the 'legendary' category, if he gets this done. It will be fun to see it all play out.

Mike Florio has moved the Rams to LA about 40 times in the past 4 years already. Just about anything he says on the issue is worthless.

My deepest thoughts are the Rams are going to commit to St.Louis even if Kroenke is in silence! If they do leave i would go into  however i can go on to say St.Louis at least has one NFL Super Bowl under it's belt. As for Mike Florio he just needs to get over himself and move on with his life as a Raiders fan.

I like what Bernie said on the radio yesterday afternoon, and later in the paper: Peacock doesn't get involved in this unless he is confident he can see the deal through. Obviously nothing is definitive and there are many factors at play, but it is reassuring that some heavy hitters with a good track record are publicly taking over.

I also was unaware of Peacock's strong ties with Goodell and the NFL. It makes sense given AB's relationship with the NFL, but Bernie made some specific references to a trusted relationship between Peacock and the League.
