101ESPN interview with Sam Farmer of the LA Times. He thinks the Rams have one foot out the door, but also states that many teams have been in that position before. He will believe it, when the steel is being erected for the new stadium. He also reiterated that Dean Spanos, the owner of the SD Chargers, has formed a nice alliance to block any team from moving to LA. I'm not sure if Goodell can trump that, so who knows how strong that alliance really is.

I think this is the Bernie article:

He does not sound as optimistic as he has been in the past, but still believes the Rams will stay here, unless local officials do nothing. As far as I know, they have done nothing. Then again, allegedly, there are talks going on behind the scenes, so who knows!

Post-Bradford injury power rankings predictions have the Rams about 20th at 6-10. Of course they are always wrong. The Rams have 5 games against the top 3 teams in the league by most rankings -- Seattle, Denver, and SF. Outside of that, we play only 2 other teams ranked higher than 15th -- Philadelphia (7) and San Diego (11). Our first three games are against teams ranked 26th, 22nd, and 21st, so we about have to go 3-0 to start the season to have a chance at the playoffs, then we play Philadelphia.
As usual, the NFL gave us a Monday night home game during the baseball playoffs to kill attendance, and also the traditional last game of the season on the road at Seattle to make sure any optimism we might have built up for 2015 is dashed.

Anyone around here in advertising? I'd be interested to hear a professional's opinion on the new "Defend Our Turf" campaign. The artwork is very cool, but I don't really understand the radio and TV spots narrated by a child which don't exactly stir a fire of enthusiasm.
The downtown STL advertising firm Boxing Clever has had the account since 2012. I wonder if how long they were contracted to work with the team?
Interesting to read this advertising related blurb a few months before The Greatest Show was born. I vaguely remember the "It's a Rush" in the media, but the "Gotta Go To Work" seems to have trumped it.

Sad Sam didn't make the team however everything happens for a reason & i truly wish him nothing but the most success in his journey through life whether that be NFL or some other professional field..

Say the Rams do end up going to LA. If St. Louis gets a mls team, does that replace whatever "pride" (or whatever) that was lost?
That'd be like replacing the Cardinals with a Double-A baseball team. It would be a far cry from replacement.
An MLS team as replacement for the Rams is a pretty funny joke. An NBA team would be closer but still not equal
Obviously its not the NFL but it is a sports league that St. Louis could support. I think NBA would work in Kansas City before St. Louis.
^Interesting. Because of the whole KU (and more recently Wichita State) heritage of basketball greatness? Or because they don't have an NHL team? Just curious why you think that.

In other news, Oakland has reached an agreement with the Raiders for a new stadium: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/20 ... n-oakland/
Meanwhile, per Bernie Miklasz, here is the stadium situation locally: http://interact.stltoday.com/forums/vie ... &t=1050769
If we lose the Rams because of Governor Nixon's chronic lack of spine, I will be infuriated.BernieM wrote:After talking with people who are wired into this thing locally...
They all believe, very strongly, that Nixon has to appoint someone to take charge of this. They are getting antsy because they have waited and waited and waited for Nixon. To no avail.
(And I'm sorry I can't divulge who "they" is. Sensitive at this time.)
The Gov. to this point has had no interest in taking charge of it.
I'm not ripping him for it; he's had more pressing concerns to deal with.
But this is a great time for him to dish off to someone that can coordinate the effort and get the ball rolling ... provided that there's interest in making an effort.

Bold predictions by Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports....
http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/writer/jas ... rt-in-20143. Someone's On The Move: The siren call of LA is getting too loud and overt to ignore, and with leases up in St. Louis and Oakland, I believe some franchise will notify the NFL of an intent to move by February. Mark Davis has no real options, and I don't see Stan Kroenke getting something built in St. Louis or wanting to go year-to-year on his lease. This stuff is hitting critical mass and no one wants to be the second team to LA.

^^ What is it Nixon is supposed to do? We all know the legislature will be forking over relatively few $$ compared to last time around.... the county may not subsidize as well if the proposed stadium is located in the city. I think the only way significant public $$ comes to this is through an increase in taxes targeting out-of-towners like bed tax and car rental tax. Anyway, hopefully once the new County Executive is elected and in place there can be some pretty good discussion b/w the parties on what public $$ might be viable -- and remember the promises to put it to a public vote.

$1billion relocation fee, $1+ billion for a new stadium is what nobody seems to be talking about....Who is willing to spend $2billion before their first game is played there?
NFL shares its Rev, so you are getting the same amount if you are here or NYC or LA. Sure the value of the team may go up but is Stan looking to sell in his life time?

^^It's amazing how Bernie was so confident that something was going to get done behind the scenes, that Nixon is on it. Now he comes out and appears to be way less optimistic that Nixon has the time or the drive to get this deal done. I think he needs to assign Dave Peacock to this role and get this process moving. He is a mover and shaker, has connections, has bright ideas and was allegedly in this role in the first place. He needs to take the lead and get Stan to stay, get a great venue built here and end this LA move talk. I am sick of it!
I was hoping he'd serve as a facilitator.roger wyoming II wrote:^^ What is it Nixon is supposed to do? But you're right that until a new County Exec is in office, not much is going to happen: and that's not good.
So Im clear, if the Rams are to move, people wouldn't want a MLS team? You people would be happy with just the Blues and Cardinals?

^ How can STL get MLS, when we have not venue and no plans??? If we can't even get a venue for our current NFL team, there's no way we'll get one for an MLS team that does not even exist here yet.
^^ I think just about everyone wants an MLS team. If the Rams leave it'd be especially good to get an MLS team. But the idea that an MLS team would somehow fill the void or make up for the Ram's departure is ridiculous.
Also, as others have said, an NBA team would go a lot further toward filling the void than an MLS team. It also might make more sense since they could share facilities with the Blues instead of requiring yet another stadium.

Void as in what? As in the cost of single tickets? As in the economic benefit?wabash wrote:^^ I think just about everyone wants an MLS team.
