Airport commission update

D concourse will reopen - airlines have asked to reopen it sooner than later.
You will be able to go thru security in T1 and get to T2.
I think they said they plan to open the rest of C and D in 2025. It came up during the elevator/escalator maintenance portion of the meeting

It was also mentioned D would be reopened with or without a new terminal. That line makes me think Southwest might be taking another bank of gates.

St. Louis was the station of the year for Delta... would be nice if that included more flights.
American adding 7 more flights a day in May 22% increase.

November international loads
Southwest Cancun 91%
Lufthansa Frankfurt 80.7%
Frontier Cancun 78%
Air Canada Toronto 66.5%
AA Cancun 63.5% - first month back
Frontier Punta Cana 57% - first month back

Just out of curiosity, how would my flight tomorrow count? I'm flying out to Ho Chi Minh, but I have to make connections in Detroit and Seoul to get there. (There are blessed few direct flights from the US to Vietnam at all. There's a couple on VN air from San Francisco and Seattle, I think it is. Might be one from LAX as well. But none from anywhere east of the coast that I'm aware of. And the only US carrier that services Vietnam is United, and that from Hong Kong, not from the US. Strange flight.) Do I count as domestic, or do they have a way of capturing all that? (I will have to show my passport and visa to get on the plane, of course. Oh, the madness that is Tet.)

Connecting on one booking will get counted as O/D STL and Saigon

Well, happy to help raise the numbers. Just, dear god I need to find a way to learn Vietnamese more effectively than Duolingo.

Might not exactly be the right spot for this but our friend Carl Icahn is back.

Bought 10% of JetBlue. Sorry in advance to JetBlue.

Frontier is adding a 4th weekly flight (Friday) to Montego Bay starting in March.

It also is making Cancun daily year round. It had been scheduled for less than daily in fall

commission meeting updates:

T2
Shake shack under construction
Pei Wei under construction (I thought this was supposed to be PickupStix, so not sure if she just misspoke)
Larger Starbucks under construction
Crushed Red Kiosk added a couple months ago
Some kind of pizza oven from Italy, not sure what it is for? Might be crushed red related
Peacemaker for Pasta House is still happening

T1 - C
Chilis will be a Nascar themed restaurant.

Spring break numbers look good. 7% more seats than 2019. Close to 50k people a day some days
T2 is going to be policed closer to try to get people to not sit and wait for people in cars. Whistles will be used now to get peoples attention

Don’t shoot the messenger. I think it’s a dumb idea.

I can only hope they sell 24 ounce cans of Busch light

Two head scratchers about a NASCAR theme—
  • The NASCAR bubble burst several years ago if not more (not from fans but corporate sponsorship frenzy)
  • T2 would make more sense with Southwest connections which hit both NASCAR demos in geography and LCC
Is it Chili's with NASCAR decor? Or a new NASCAR concept? If it's the Wallace brothers, I'd approve of that.

I think you guys are seriously misrepresenting the average clientele at Lambert. That Chili’s will be one of the more popular food destinations.

PostMar 07, 2024#8291

Though it would be more appropriate for T2.

Pretty sure Mike Honcho is behind this

With WWT Raceway actually getting a real race and F1, not shocked to see a Nascar themed restaurant at Lambert.

So is it totally new, replacing Chili's?

F1 is coming to WWT Raceway? They would need more corners I think.

Sorry I wasn't more clear. Chilis is closing to become a NASCAR themed restaurant. Heard they wanted to do a STL CITY SC theme but couldn't get it worked out in time for the conversion .... So its NASCAR. Guessing it will be a menu a lot like the Blues restaurant only with Nascar decor instead. And like I said I hope some tallboys of Busch and Natty light, just to add to the theme
