Southwest announced changes to their rapid rewards program today. But the thing I found most interesting

 Loyalty partner redemption

Starting in Spring 2027, Members will be able to earn and redeem Rapid Rewards points for travel through international loyalty partnerships, beginning with Icelandair, China Airlines, and Etihad Airways,

So you will be able to earn and use Southwest points for Iceland flights.

Also, Starlink will be on all their planes by next fall
My biggest take away is that companion pass is essentially going away after 2027.
Unless you were getting it by sign up bonus, which already you could only once every 4? years or the hotel bonus, I don't think it will end up being that much of a change. I assume they still will have promotions like they have now to get extra TQPs and the two time a year promotional companion pass where you get one for fall and winter.

They are making it easier to get status now since CC spend goes towards it, which it didn't before.

Sounds like there was an incident this morning with an AA flight that had smoke in the cockpit and it caused delays as the plane was isolated on a taxiway.

At least a couple Southwest diversions. One to Midamerica one to Columbia and a couple to KC. Delta had one to indy

Assuming that’s via Frankfurt.  Given our large Bosnian population, great ad campaign.

OK, it looks like I read the first email about it too quickly. I get mine each year through CC spend, and it looks like the top tier will actually be slightly easier to obtain than the CC limit is currently.

Why backtrack to Iceland when you could backtrack to Columbus?

Lufthansa updated their summer schedule today for next year. Flight swapped back to a A330. It also is swapping Monday and Wednesday flights for Thursday and Saturday. So it will run Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday next year starting the last week of March

No. They have kept it in the schedule. They are pausing some other stations. Austin is one.

Terminal 1 MetroLink is closed for two months for maintenance. Announced just days before closure. Still shows open on Google Maps. No shuttle improvements to compensate for the gap.

Just unacceptable infrastructure management on the part of the Airport and Bi-State.

Should’ve been announced min. 30 days in advance.
Should increase shuttle frequency to compensate.
Google Maps should show closed.

I didn't realize until just now that the Terminal 2 station closes too, Nov 2 until mid-December.

Sounds like Aeromexico will be adding STL next week to MEX. The flight will be served by Boeing 737 aircraft two to three times weekly. No official announcement has been made yet, but friend at STL PA told me this. We will see.

That would be one that would not have been on my bingo card at all. 2 to 3 times a week would be out of character for them. But I wouldn't complain.

Well. We will see. There is a lot of rumbles about Aeromexico online.  I question it is legit or rumor. However, this same source also led me to believe that BA was coming and it was.

I love how the creators of the NextStop Blog have stopped using the category tags for each post, so the last post in Capital Projects is from March of 2025 and the last Construction post is from December of 2025. /s

This would be a great pick up for us.  I am hoping this is true.

I'd love to see this - headed to Mexico City next month! - but is there really enough PDEW to bring a flight here? I think KC has a larger hispanic population than STL. And, as far as I know, there is no commercial, codeshare, or alliance partnership between Aeroméxico and Southwest Airlines.

Consider me very skeptical.
