I think they mean the one on South Grand. Ruler Foods is Kroger, and they're certainly not shutting down the chain from anything I'm seeing. (After a supremely quick search to be fair, but they don't seem to have any real issue with the badge.) Mind you, that location isn't showing up on lists of Kroger owned stores shutting down in 2026 yet, but there's still plenty of time. So that's Ruler on Grand, Fields on Lafayette and that nice new one on the near North side that looked really nice from the outside but didn't last too long that have all closed. Nobody ever mentions anything about the nice new one on the near North side at all. Not sure why we can't get a grocery store to work around these parts. Hopefully downtown Schnucks and the the Fresh Thyme on FPP can remain.
And the Schnucks on South Grand (edit: Hampton store) is now blaring classical music to discourage loitering. That's an old gambit. I know some of the punk and gay bars around Wrigley used to do this back in the 90s to run off Cubs fans. Of course, this was back when Wrigley was just a place for alcoholics and nuns to hang out on a nice summer day.

I kinda think its funny how people predict the failure or and discredit the idea of government owned bulk grocery stores but then just say womp womp when private grocery stores fail all the time. The capitalist mindset is so lost in its own world.
Also cool that we are trying to will the failure of a grocery store that is frequently busy and literally next to a college campus now in addition to the downtown Schnucks.

I wish nothing but the best for all grocery stores and I do not root for their failure.
The potential "government backed" grocery store we will likely see in NYC will be great success. There will be so much money behind just to prove a point that failure is almost non-existent.

You mean like the failure of for-profit grocery stores that happens all the time all across the country because it's actually hard to milk a profit from poor people or people in a small town? Failure like that? And you mean there will be tons of government money behind it the same way there's hundreds of billions behind private defense companies every year to ensure they never fail and keep making a heavy profit off the back of the tax payers and dead people on the other side of the world? Money like that?
