^ agreed. i don't see much difference between a new establishment opening in a park versus not in a park.
The sheer size of the patios would be a competitive advantage. I could, however, see how these park-bars would rock during the day and possibly feed customers to adjacent establishments if closing times were in step with park closing times. 10 pm for most parks, correct? Anyone know the patio closing times for licensed bars? I think it's either 11 pm or midnight.urban_dilettante wrote: ↑May 19, 2021^ agreed. i don't see much difference between a new establishment opening in a park versus not in a park.

I don't see how it would hurt businesses around the park. If anything it would elevate the park and draw more annual visitors to the area.
IE:
IE:
- Park coffee shop attracts people who might patronize local bars and restaurants after their park visit.
- Park beer garden attracts people who may grab local coffee before heading into the park.

This whole thing sounds both exceptional and no-brainer. The revenues for the City alone make this a great thing to make the norm. And yeah, I can see such park venues directly leading to more people going out to proximate restaurant and bar districts, just like what can already be seen with certain parks holding regular concert series. Rather than being full-on competitive, these would be complementary and likely enhance proximate business consumption.

Would Bellerive Park be big enough for something like this? Thinking that the river views would make for an excellent biergarten.

I dont think it'd make sense for a permanent set-up but if they really did this thing right they could do mobile beer gardens for the smaller parks and that'd be a great stop a few times a year.Baltimore Jack wrote: ↑May 19, 2021Would Bellerive Park be big enough for something like this? ^Something modular like shipping containers could be something if pavilions aren't good for a retrofit...
This really could be something. Anyone want to start a company?

The pavilion in Bellerive Park might be just big enough for a small coffee stand and a few tables. You'd have to work out how to secure it at night, but that'd be a small price to pay to get some services back in the park and get the restrooms open. And there's surely enough space for another small pavilion.Baltimore Jack wrote: ↑May 19, 2021Would Bellerive Park be big enough for something like this? ^There are some guys who go around with a trailer selling beer in different parks. They are typically at the TGP farmer's market and they tend to stay after the market on Saturday afternoons, have spent a lot of $$$ with them. That sounds like proof of concept.

Coffee shop at Bellerive Park would make a lot of sense actually. Local incomes are on the rise and there isn't another competing shop anywhere nearby. Plus that view
^ Exactly, that's them! I wish they had a more "fixed" schedule as I seem to bump into them on TGP more or less randomly. Anyway, they seem to do good business there which I think attests to the potential of a beer garden.

I'd love to have a cup a joe looking out over a Mississippi River sunrise at Bellerive Park. I like the way you think! And you're right, the nearest specialty coffee from there would be where--Gooseberries in Dutchtown? The Starbucks on Loughborough? I love that stretch of South Broadway and think it is definitely underserved for a lot of goods and services.GoHarvOrGoHome wrote: ↑May 20, 2021Coffee shop at Bellerive Park would make a lot of sense actually. ^There's not even a coffee shop on Grand in the area. I really think someone is missing out, as the space is there. I would be entirely down with a walking distance coffee shop. The number of folks I see when I'm out walking is slowly growing; people out on their porch, or walking their dogs. I have to think it's only going to get better. And Bellerive Park is a bit away from me, but I do walk there every now and then. And if there were more to do . . . I'd go more often.

The decentralized offices are intended to give A-B’s marketers a “closer understanding of local customers in important markets, while keeping tight virtual connection to teammates in New York,” officials said.
The first hub will open at the brewery’s St. Louis headquarters in Soulard, followed by downtown Austin and the Playa District of Los Angeles in the fall and the Wynwood section of Miami in the winter.

No pickleball ☹ I was hoping for Bocce! The work over there is now finished. There is expanded seating and bas/cornhole. Perennial hosted a nice town hall to talk about the Great Rivers Greenway expansion, charter schools and more about a week ago. I believe our state congreswoman spoke.pattimagee wrote: ↑Jul 22, 2021Looks like Perennial is working on a Pickelball courts?
After speaking with employees last night, the brick seating area is about to receive a facelift too. Exciting stuff at my favorite brewery!

^Sweet! Glad to see Civil Life expanding and happy for Perennial Artisan's success.
Rockwell’s new beer garden opens in 6 to 8 weeks!
