I really like the transformation, but it just doesn't seem to go far enough. This is a building that I am 100% sure will be a good facility for St. Louis University's Law School, but I guess the exterior is one that has to grow me.

It's the kind exterior redo, I suppose, that will likely grab your appreciation when you least expect it.

Although money could have been a factor, I just wish they could have re-skinned THE WHOLE building in glass. They wouldn't have needed to remove any material from the existing structure - just simply cloaked it in glass.

Overall, I am happy that SLU's Biondi made the decision. It's a win for downtown and a win for SLU.

Money is the factor. At last check, eventually re-skinning the whole building is a possibility. They made the decision to use available resources on the interior, rather than exterior, for I'd imagine obvious reasons.

Hopefully one day!

Once it is finished, perhaps there won't be a need for a total re-skinning/re-cladding in the future. We'll see.

To be fair, the exterior isn't completely finished. I think with proper exterior lighting aside from the blue light box, well-placed exterior identifying signage, signature ground floor canopies, the exterior redo might be a big surprise.

Anyway....as stated before, I don't think the interior is going to be an issue, and I hope they allow a public tour before opening the building to faculty and students.

I'm just thankful this whole thing was accomplished without a single demo, which is shocking for SLU. You know how much SLU loves its green space and parking.

I think SLU wants that for its main campus in midtown; I'm sure they understood that doesn't make as much sense downtown.

Took me a minute to get the joke.

Though I think putting the glass in shaped like S L U would have been...interesting.

They could just extend the glass up a bit and they'd get a big "t". I've often though thats what they were trying to do with their midtown campuses. Looking down from space, shaped like a "t" and surrounded by grass and parking.

Noticed they had the blue light on for a few minutes the other night. This is the light that goes around the entire roof line. Must say it made quite the statement. Really looked cool I thought.

I was sitting in section 442 at the Cards game last night and was happy to see the glass top of this building. A great addition to the skyline visible from Busch III!

Okay, is it just me, or is the glass column down the middle of it off-center? It's driving me CRAZY. Why did they do that?

^ It is directly above the existing main entrance to the building.

Thankfully there was no closing of Chestnut, but they did get 10 feet+ added to the sidewalk where there was previously on street angled parking. I think it's a good addition as that stretch of Chestnut was/is rather wide and sidewalks small.
