I've heard the project has been scaled back. It's too bad SLU Law can't get some big donations like the two Wash U. got (as mentioned in the Olin thread), or it would be under construction already.

^ True. I've heard that those fundraisers at WU are a different breed. Sharks, I tell you!
Why? They are too busy building on their open spaces to leave any room for tents.Roger Wyoming wrote:^ they're like Wall Street Traders. Occupy Wash U!
Instead, I suggest another campus that keeps creating flat, grassy, ideal camping spots. Heck, they even have a dog park if you want to take your pet with you.
And almost as nasty as newspaper folks.Alex Ihnen wrote:^ True. I'm heard that those fundraisers are WU are a different breed. Sharks, I tell you!

dredger, its a joke.... a certain someone in this forum is a fat cat WU fundraiser. He may or may not smoke cigars and have a limo service.
I know, it was a bad attempt to take a cheap shot at SLU.Roger Wyoming wrote:dredger, its a joke.... a certain someone in this forum is a fat cat WU fundraiser. He may or may not smoke cigars and have a limo service.
Look for a major press release from SLU on this today or tomorrow.
OK, I'll spill. The law school is moving downtown to 100 N. Tucker, where after a major donation, it will occupy the entire building. This is due to happen by August 2012.
Until then I'll hold onto the dream that they've decided to relocate the law school to a state of the art redevelopment of Cupples 7.

Can you claim success in hindsight? Yes you can.
Can't believe she said this though, "We are thrilled to learn of SLU’s decision..."
I mean, I'm not surprised that they were surprised and all, but...

Wow, that's a shocker! I'm sure that will be good that area downtown, a nice steady supply of student traffic. Where do SLU law students tend to live? Dorms, off-campus housing, etc? Just wondering how this will affect downtown's housing market.
Any word on what's planned for the current law school buildings?

Should a new thread be created in the Downtown section?
Also, I'm assuming they're going to add some neon SLU and fleur de lis to the sides...which would be a welcome addition in my opinion. A fresh coat of paint and making it look more modern would really help out this block.

It's certainly an improvement over the current hulk. According to the architects, the overall design has been approved by the administration, and construction is still slated to begin in October.
