What's one tap at SF? Skittles martini's aren't quite my style...
bpe,
No draft beer at SF, but here is a list of our bottle beer (copied and pasted from the menu, so excuse the all lower case):
blue moon ? boulevard pale ale ? boulevard unfiltered wheat ? budweiser ? bud light ? budweiser select ? coors light ? corona ? fat tire ? guinness ? heineken ? leinenkugel’s berry weiss ? leinenkugel’s honey weiss ? michelob ultra ? miller lite ? newcastle brown ale ? pacifico ? sam adams boston lager ? schlafly pale ale ? schlafly octoberfest ? shiner bock ? sierra nevada pale ale ? skinny dip ? sol ? stella artois
Coming soon:
Corona Light and New Belgium 2 Below (Will replace Skinny Dip).
I am also 'negotiating' for a draft box with 3 taps. Then we would probably have Schlafly Pale Ale, Fat Tire and the 3rd will be a seasonal selection from either Schlafly or New Belgium.
Let me know if you have any other requests/suggestions! (No guarantees, but it never hurts to take a shot!)
If you are a wine drinker, try out the Silver Palm Cabernet Sauvignon. We'll even pour you a tasting sample. You'll be glad you checked it out!

OT: bonwich, do you know the gilmans? I played bball with/against sam gilman at one point... He went to principia...
I'm guessing the new physics teacher at Prin might be Sam's dad:

I had bought my wife a gift certificate to Simply Fondue for her birthday in August. She went to lunch last week in Clayton with her friend that works at the Drive Agency next to SF, and her friend mentioned that there were rumors SF might not make it (stay open) past Christmas. So we decided to go last night before the gift certificate was rendered useless.
Some observations:
The reservation was for 9:00. When we got there, there was no customers at the bar, and all the tables we passed were open. Much different than when we were at Edmonds (15) last Sat at 9:00.
Our food was very good, definitely on par with Melting Pot. We had the dinner for two, with Cajun Shiner Bock broth, Mediterranean cheese, six meats, and Heath bar chocolate, and it was all good.
On the other hand, our waiter was not very good. Ordering drinks was an adventure. My wife ordered a $6 glass of Riessling; upon finishing her first glass of wine, the waiter mentioned that she got the last of the bottle, and they didn't have another bottle of that brand. She then asked about a different brand of Riessling that was $10 a glass, but they were out of that as well.
Not noticing the beers listed on the wine list, I asked about beers on draft, and as someone mentioned earlier in this thread, they don't have any. The waiter said that they have many micobrews, so I asked about New Belgium, maybe 1554, and he said they have Two Below but he didn't mention Fat Tire. I asked about Boulevard, and he acted like he had never heard of it. He mentioned Schlafly Octoberfest, so I ordered that, but then he came back and said they were out. So I just ordered a Schlafly Pale Ale, which he brought me without a glass.
Our bill was about $120; I would think that's a typical bill for a two-top there. But given the location, with poor signage and no other bars/restaurants next door, I can see why they'd be struggling to make it. I'm surprised their corporate management allowed the franchisee to open in that location.
Wow! Just checked in for the first time in a while and I hear that we are going out of business! That's the first I've heard of it. Please, if you hear any further rumors to this effect, please tell the perpetrator of the rumor that we have no plans to close. Please drop me a line or call me if you have any further questions!
I have read a lot of comments about service, and I guess I have been lucky, cause I have received good service (though once they did not have my GF's Riesling)
Prices are cheap "COMPARED TO" Melting spot. My GF an I generally go for the cheese or choco fondue, cause the full spread is for special occasions only.
All in all, it is a good restaurant to have. Glad to hear they are going to stay in business. As people move in that block, I hope it gets more and more business.
In addition to the website, we will be able to update specials and pass on information in a more expedient manner. Stop by and check it out! We'll add you as a friend if you ask!
The wife and I visited SF for dinner on New Year's Eve and had an absolute blast! The food was great, as was the service. The owners both stopped by to chat and even took our picture to remember the occasion.
I really liked the design of the restaurant and the huge windows opening out onto Locust and 17th. It's different from The Melting Pot in that it's much more open, although the booths are tall enough to provide plenty of privacy. I think I liked the atmosphere at SF better.
Very cool bar area - the entrance is actually in the back off St. Charles. The restaurant was full, so I guess they did a good job of promoting their NYE specials. I noticed lots of people walking up and down Locust - not sure where they were going, but it contributed to the "big city" feel of the restaurant/evening.
If the Plaza Square Building (the giant warehouse, not reddragon's place), Leather Trades Building and the Dragon Trading Building ever get rehabbed, that stretch of Locust will really be great. Sam Koplar's renovation of 1711 Locust will be a nice first step.
I didn't realize that I never wrote about my fondue experience at Simply Fondue. I happened to jump over to this page and remember...
I went there on a date and it was great! I think a lot of it had to do with having a good server. The food was good and much more that the 2 of us could eat. My favorite was the cheese fondue and I'm sure I would have enjoyed the chocolate more if I wasn't so stuffed by the time it came out. I would definitely go back again.
I am sorry to hear about the article that was less than complimentary - although it really just seemed like the person didn't like fondue.
Thanks for all of the suggestions on my meal (and drinks!) and I hope to be there sometime in the near future.

Hey, so did my wife and I! (sorry, haven't been on for a while).
FYI, the KMOX Advantage website is offering more half-price gift certificates for Simply Fondue ($50 gift certs for $25). I've stocked up on a bunch because are such a great deal. Unlike a lot of other places, there aren't many restrictions, so you can use them any night and use them for alcohol. Some friends and I went the other night for just martinis and cheese and had a great time! Anyways, good way to save some money and check out the place!
