How long have the letters on the Shell building spelling out the building's name been lit? I saw them in bright green on the way home tonight. They light up on letter at a time S-H-E-L-L. Maybe you guys have mentioned this before, I myself just saw it for the first time.
I can't remember when they where lit, but it was fairly recent.
Saw it this past weekend, lets hope the "S" does not burn out
The Shell Building is one of my favorites. I really like buildings that form to a circle, curve, or angle. I love the way the Shell Building, Christ Church Cathedral, the library, & Lucas Park come together. Now with the Park Pacific (formerly the Union Pacific) being developed, it adds to the appeal. The Park Pacific press release noted its Neo-Gothic style.
Is the Shell Building also considered Neo-Gothic? Or something else? What is the status of the building? Who are the current tenants, office and retail? Any future plans or is it doing well as is?

By the way Expat, if you ever get serious about moving back to St. Louis I know of a loft for sale with great views of the Shell Building

If the view is like the first picture, that would be a priceless view.
The Shell Building, Christ Church Cathedral, Library with upcoming improvements, & the Park Pacific including new tower, downtown skyline and Arch in the background. So much good stuff in one place, it is embarrassing

THat first pic looks like its from the Terra Cotta Building. Either on an upper floor or the rooftop deck.

Yes. Both of those photos were taken from a loft on the eleventh floor in Terra Cotta. I was just told there is a contract on it now. Sorry Expat.

For some reason, I like to revive dead threads, especially if I have pictures to add... I hope no one minds...

Haha, nice one! Will you help him conquer the architectural world?captainjackass wrote:It should read:

...conquer the architectural world?
The day you see me on the cover on El Croquis, standing in front of 3 cubes masquerading as a house, we'll say that.
LOL! I didn't know that goofball was still around
Not gone. And not a goofball. Gentry is a relentless pursuer of news coverage for his clients.

You of all people should know that these two characterizations aren't mutually exclusive.

Perhaps you never saw his entertainment reports 20+ years ago?
