Maybe we should write a list of 95 reasons the San Luis should be saved, and nail it to the door of the Cathedral.

I think we need a high-profile rally, complete with media coverage. We need to do it ASAP. I think a Sunday would be best just because there are a lot more people out around the cathedral. Emergency meeting for early next week???

Tuesday night at the Grind? Are they open on Monday? How about the adjunct space at Coffee Cartel?

I like the way you think, Framer, and I'm sure Martin Luther would also approve. 8)

John, if some of us can get together, Tuesday works well for me as well because I'll be out of town on MLK Day and I have class Wednesday evening.

Well, actually, I might be a little buzzed from celebrating Obama's inauguration earlier in the evening, but I can make it anyway. 8)

Scratch Tuesday unless we go early in the afternoon. I forgot I have a prior engagement with my significant other for the inaugural address...The Lutheran revolution initially failed. Perhaps the nailing of demands things could be modernized a bit.

.

Or, we could go AFTER the address, which may even be better. We'll be insipired to work for change.

I'd be completely happy to meet everyone to talk about what needs to be done to save this building... but Tuesday just won't work for me (and I suspect others) due to the Inauguration. I've been way too excited for Jan 20 for far too long to miss it now. ANY other day/night and I'm down.

OK. I've asked a few more from the Friends of the San Luis group whether they can meet as well. For all else reading this, please go here http://noparkinglotonlindell.com/, and join in if you're inclined to stop more surface parking from taking over our city streets.

Yes let's meet on Monday the 19th at the Coffee Cartel.

We need to have a rally. We don't have time to wait and plan if they're going to issue a demolition permit. We need to bring more attention and get people fired up to testify against demolition at the Preservation Board. The San Luis can't get demo'ed without Preservation Board approval.

I'll be out of town Monday, so I don't know if I'll be there, but I'll try to make it if I get back into town earlier than I expect. 8)

I don't mean to be a smart a$$, but I can't even think of or say the words "Preservation Board" without rolling my eyes.

I talked to Paul (VanishingSTL) on the train this morning, and he can't meet on Monday either, so I was thinking maybe another day this week could be suggested as an alternate. I'd prefer that it not be on Tuesday, so that would leave Wednesday, Thursday, or even Friday (it might become an early drink gathering/civic meeting if so).

OK- meeting date changed to next Thursday, 1/22 at 7p at Coffee Cartel. This should ensure the most attendees, and someone can buy me a beer.

I'm there. That's my birthday, but I'm willing to put off celebrating to talk about saving this building.

All,

Just a reminder, there is to be a meeting this evening regarding the San Luis Apartments on Lindell Boulevard in the CWE. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss civic action in response to the Archdiocese (AD) plan to demolish this mid-century modern building. While a few of us have met a few times to generate some adaptive reuse ideas and means of presenting these ideas, tonight's meeting is specifically regarding the threat of demolition to the building. The actual timeframe of intent to demolish this building by the AD is not known, but a recent rumor about their plans to move forward despite the current vacancy of the Archbishop seat has given responsive civic action more urgency.

We are meeting at Coffee Cartel in the CWE at the corner of Maryland and Euclid at 7p, and if you'd like to contribute to the effort to preserve this threatened modern building, and to prevent more ill-conceived plans please join us tonight.

Thank You,

John W.

^ How'd the meeting go? I really wanted to make it, but with my birthday today and dinner with my girlfriend running long it wasn't in the cards. A summary would be greatly appreciated.

The meeting went well, and we've got some good ideas to move forward with a public rally against the demolition, and everyone interested in this issue really MUST attend the rally when scheduled (please visit the Friends of the San Luis website at www.noparkinglotonlindell.com after this weekend for more complete details).[/url]

Sorry I missed this last night. I signed up for the google/yahoo group and have been reading the emails, but just now have the time/ability to get involved. I'll be at the rally.
