This is in Midtown, so more the equivalent of maybe the Cortex/SLU/GC area. but greater downtown Detroit Lumbersexuals get their special treat starting tomorrow:

They'll look quite rugged while riding their fancy streetcar and scooping up vinyl at the Jack White record shop.

Not surprising...that was a bad location. I live less than a block from there, and walk past it nearly every day. I routinely forget that there's even a restaurant there. It's literally a little cubby on the side of a parking garage.

I would hope they would relocate though instead of just closing.

According to STL Mag's Mahe, the Boom Boom Room replacing Lola will open next month and something called the A2 Cafe will open in November in the same building on the Washington Ave fronting side... probably would have preferred a retail shop since that's right across from Star Clipper and we need some kind of retail concentration.

Also, it looks like the M/X area flight path is as follows:
Kitchen Sink, late September
Porano Pasta + Gelato, November
Sugarfire Smoke House, December

Seven Zero Eight also is slated to open early next month in the Landing. I think the Boom Boom Room is also burlesque, so that will be two opening around the same time.

^ I guess I'm a bit confused about Lumiere's role here... prior story I had read is that it was two guys (I think recently from Nashville?) who bought the place with plans to make it more of a sports bar and possibly a new name.

Both Stefano's and its predecessor were in that location for five years each. I think lack of visibility would have manifested itself a bit sooner.

I think you're thinking of Hannigan's, which will be renamed The Penalty Box.

^ Thank you! So basically everything that closed in the Landing is back open or new places coming in. Or at least close? I believe a bakery is also slated to open soon.

Not my place to share where they're going since I wasn't involved in the deal -- but let's just say calling the site "Downtown" a bit of a reach by my definition of Downtown

I assume its not new construction, though, right? Will there be a drive-thru?

Sticking with the Speculatron: maybe down by Broadway Oyster, White Castle, and Old Rock House?

It looks like Empire pizza is now closed for good. There was some speculation about this a while back, but this time, they've moved everything out.

They always seemed busy...I wonder what the deal was. One less late-night place to get food in a place that needs more...

And come to think of it, that might be a good spot for Tim Horton's.
