You mean just like the one going in on Hampton where Bradburn's School Supply once stood?
More like the double number on South Kingshighway. Wouldn't that be impressive!! And create 5 jobs I'm sure. ( I shall stop now )shadrach wrote:You mean just like the one going in on Hampton where Bradburn's School Supply once stood?

What a disaster. There is no reason that building should be torn down.

I personally see little reason to think SLU should have the development authority. An organization like Grand Center would probably be better, where SLU had one vote among many, but not absolute control. (Not that Grand Center was all that effective at thwarting SLU centered demo back in the day.)
Did I read that this developmental control is to be considered by the Planning Commission at the their meeting Nov 2? Are we able to write to them or participate in any other way. The one Planning Commission meeting I went to was the one where Biondi threatened to move SLU to Maryville and that was a closed meeting with no opportunity for public comment.
StlToday - SLU would control tax breaks, demo Pevely Dairy building under Midtown redevelopment plan

well screw SLU.
On one hand it would be incredible to have a comprehensive plan, maybe see some development in that area like whats in the grove or Cortex or a hybrid of both; on the other hand why demolish these two buildings, are the really unusable? and i also have doubts as to the competency of SLU to produce a quality neighborhood, not just a great nieghborhood, but even one thats just good enough.
i expect to see a whole bunch of village apartments like they have on the frost campus. But i hope Im wrong. hopefully they will put someone in charge who has the same interests as their professor Dr. Coffin.

That seems to be the thing being most built on properties in need of Redevelopment. For example, the old Bradburns Store on Hampton.imran wrote:A ginormous QT then?

FB reminded me that the rally to save the Pevely was 5 years ago today.
I was so innocent and starry eyed back then :/quincunx wrote:FB reminded me that the rally to save the Pevely was 5 years ago today.
Maria Altman @radioaltman
. @MeganEllyia says concerned about demolition of Pevely. SLU rep says bldg couldn't be renovated.

I spoke with someone from Lawrence Group who was close to the project and they said they were trying their best to convince them to keep it, but she said sadly it was probably 95% going to be demo'd.
Is anyone going to grab the Pevely sign off the roof of that building? Like City Museum maybe? https://www.google.com/maps/@38.6258412 ... a=!3m1!1e3

Guys! Slu's endowment is only $1.02 Billion. There is now way they could afford to renovate this building.

Doesn't matter how grand their endowment if they have a bad heart or poor circulation. I suppose Wash U's school of medicine could write them a scrip that might help, and maybe CoP could fill it. But they'll still need to get out and walk a little more. And lose some parking bloat.moorlander wrote:Guys! Slu's endowment is only $1.02 Billion. SLU has officially filed to tear down Pevely:

Are there actual plans for the "major new educational facility" that SLU claims will be going up in it's place?
- 1,792
Is there anything to stop them now...?
Sad that the fort move slu makes is to propose tearing down the one thing they have been trying to tear down for a decade. As if there is only one plac a major new education building could go. If only Pevely hadn't been there they would have had state of the art educational facilities wouldn't have their accreditation under threat...?
