The $2.05 billion for equipment will fund 43 new trainsets for Amtrak, to be used on short and medium-distance routes, including Chicago-based regional trains such as the Wolverine and Lincoln Service. Other services to receive the equipment will include the Adirondack, Carolinian, Cascades, Virginia services, Empire Service, Ethan Allen, Hartford Line, Keystone Service, Pennsylvanian, and Piedmont.

Would there ever be support for a train line that bypasses Illinois and links Cape Girardeau, Fulton KY, Nashville, Chattanooga, Atlanta, & Jacksonville? This would already link to St. Louis on an existing train and Jacksonville, to Miami on existing trains. What would we call it? Snowbird Special?
