Then buy coach.Ebsy wrote: ↑Apr 09, 2025It is frankly ridiculous what Amtrak is charging for business class on the Lincoln Service. Basically the same sh*tty seats that have no cushion and don't recline, no service whatsoever, and a free drink that amounts to a couple bucks of value. For 70 something bucks there should be a free meal minimum.
I will still use the Lincoln service as an alternative to flying but we really missed the train with these new cars. I suppose we will have to suffer for 30-40 years until we get another shot (assuming Amtrak survives that long).
Do you behave in this fashion in every facet of your life or do you reserve your ignorant behavior for us here?Auggie wrote: ↑Apr 09, 2025Then buy coach.Ebsy wrote: ↑Apr 09, 2025It is frankly ridiculous what Amtrak is charging for business class on the Lincoln Service. Do you complain about everything in your life, even things that you have direct control over- like paying more for business when there's coach available for cheaper?Ebsy wrote: ↑Apr 09, 2025Do you behave in this fashion in every facet of your life or do you reserve your ignorant behavior for us here?Auggie wrote: ↑Apr 09, 2025Then buy coach.Ebsy wrote: ↑Apr 09, 2025It is frankly ridiculous what Amtrak is charging for business class on the Lincoln Service. If you don't think business is worth it, then don't buy it. If you do buy it, why are you buying it over coach? Is there something that you like about it that may not have a direct monetary value on the surface but probably does if you're willingly paying for it?
I chose to purchase it once and was greatly disappointed, thus my post expressing that I found it to be incredibly disappointing. I decided to post here as I know many other people use the Lincoln service and might be interested in my opinion or have their own to offer. You know, generally the purpose of posting on a forum. I also don't know who appointed you moderator to police what others see as worthy of discussion.
Dude all I did was give you a very easy and simple solution to your complaint, and you had an emotional response.Ebsy wrote: ↑Apr 09, 2025I chose to purchase it once and was greatly disappointed, thus my post expressing that I found it to be incredibly disappointing. I haven’t been on the new trains. Are you saying the coach and the business seats are the same? Or just that the business ones aren’t very good on them?Ebsy wrote: ↑Apr 09, 2025It is frankly ridiculous what Amtrak is charging for business class on the Lincoln Service. They're wider, but as Ebsy said otherwise the same not so cushy and not meaningfully reclining like coach. Also you're not as separated from the unwashed masses as on the old cars.
I agree not worth the premium they charge.

It’s definitely not worth the extra cost. The only time I spring for it is when I need to get work done and I can get some separation from the crazies in the coach section.

By this logic all online reviews are worthless and people are stupid for having purchased anything, at anytime, for any reason when left wanting.Auggie wrote: ↑Apr 09, 2025Dude all I did was give you a very easy and simple solution to your complaint, and you had an emotional response.Ebsy wrote: ↑Apr 09, 2025I chose to purchase it once and was greatly disappointed, thus my post expressing that I found it to be incredibly disappointing. I would never even dream of posting on an internet forum about how I don't think a service is worth it's price when I still consciously choose to buy the service in light of cheaper alternatives.
Seems your logic, Auggie, is highly illogical and you are the ultimate obnoxious Monday morning quarterback.
"If you didn't like the experience for the price, then buy the other cheaper option" is actually exactly how logic works. You should learn some.TheWayoftheArch_V2.0 wrote: ↑Apr 10, 2025By this logic all online reviews are worthless and people are stupid for having purchased anything, at anytime, for any reason when left wanting.Auggie wrote: ↑Apr 09, 2025Dude all I did was give you a very easy and simple solution to your complaint, and you had an emotional response.Ebsy wrote: ↑Apr 09, 2025I chose to purchase it once and was greatly disappointed, thus my post expressing that I found it to be incredibly disappointing. Ah, but you didn't know that he had never purchased it before and still offered a stupid, basic conclusion based on limited information and assumption.
I found his opinion of the new business class seats, as someone who has begun taking the Lincoln semi regularly, very informative and useful.
Your belief that you live by facts is disproven by your belief that everything you say or write is indeed factual. You are the epitome, and living example, of the post fact world.

My statement wasn't fact based, it was logic based. The personal opinion of any individual regarding their experience in business class or their own personal cost/benefit analysis cannot be factually disproven because it is inherently an opinion. One could factually judge if one's view is supported by data or the general public based on the numbers behind Amtrak's business class, but I don't have those numbers and I doubt you do either. Hence why I didn't comment on the "facts".TheWayoftheArch_V2.0 wrote: ↑Apr 10, 2025Ah, but you didn't know that he had never purchased it before and still offered a stupid, basic conclusion based on limited information and assumption.

So here you are, talking about "facts" in a case where facts literally don't exist, only opinions do, and why I responded with a logic based solution.
I swear Auggie has got to be the president of his high school debate team.

Can we all agree that this dead horse is so beaten that it looks like smeared spam roadkill? Good God, some of y'all could give an Aspirin a headache.

Not seeing Amtrak cuts in Trump's budget proposal. Maybe it serving rural places sunk in. Maybe I missed something.
Yep, big part of it w long distance rail. Also don't see Brightline advocating to take it over so that matters too. Unlike NASA, taking a big hit in POTUS Budget which in some respects when your return to moon is continuously delayed and costs up to $4 billion for each rocket launch you have some problems. At same time, the guy who is providing your moon landing capsule is also sending off rockets into space at a much cheaper cost.quincunx wrote: ↑May 03, 2025Not seeing Amtrak cuts in Trump's budget proposal. ^There's apparently some funny accounting going on with that "much cheaper cost," much as there is with everything he touches. But the Musk Monster isn't interested in rail and seems to have given up on his suck tube, so maybe that's part of it.

More important than cheaper cost is that there is $$ to be made by Elon through this reduction of NASA funding. A) we shouldn't be looking for the cheapest choice when dealing with actual rocket science and B) something as important to national security as the f-ing sky and stars shouldn't be outsourced C) if there is an issue with a lunar mission, it should absolutely be delayed until it's safe
