and dont be surprised if the 'wall' gets 'tagged' with graffiti

^Holy crap, you're right! Put a parapet and towers on top. Maybe hire John Cleese to stand there and taunt pedestrians. (I've been to that castle, by the way. It's really kind of cool to walk through the holy grail. And they have coconuts in the giftshop.)

Dont forget that the developer here likes to b**** that StL doesn’t “think big”
To be fair, Clark wasn't involved with this project until after construction had begun

I’m talking about both of them. Clayco execs talk out of both sides of their mouths in a very public, obvious manner. It’s a joke at this point.
They pontificate about what the city needs without holding a single stake here all the while profiting massively from its institutions.
Complain about the convention center district while building wildhoosier village and bragging about “shifting the center of gravity” to chesterfield.

The Wall is atrocious.

What is the actual point of the wall?
It seems to hide the retail that you'd think the companies would want you to see?
This seems like such an unnecessary flub for University City. I've said it before and I'll say it again, but I'd love to see University City balance this out with a massive development on the parking lots just north of the Loop.

The only business above the wall along Olive Blvd is the Costco gas station. Doubt they care about visibility to Olive as their customers will know the gas station is already there from visiting the Costco store.
The rest of the north side of the development with the other “anchor retailer” and outparcels is east of the wall and will be at grade (or close to it) with Olive Blvd. Same goes for the phases South of Olive Blvd.
But agree, the wall is not a welcome visual for the development. It was obviously needed for topography issues and was probably necessary to make the Costco site level.

Hey, both Pho Long and Dao Tien bistro moved into the city. I don't get to Dao Tien often, as they're downtown. But we go to Pho Long often enough and they seem to be doing fine. (And the pho is bang on perfect.)
All the remaining buildings (including a dozen apartment buildings south of Olive) have been fenced-off and are being prepped for demo.
When are they supposed to actually start building the Costco? It’s been pretty much level for what seems like a couple months now

Looks like the framing is going up now.

Not sure if this is the latest (or final) plan, but this thing seems to be getting worse. What happened to the hotel? Senior living? Apartments?

^ Wow the fact that U-City is still building this kind of crap in 2022 and destroyed a neighborhood to do so is really depressing.

Yikes. Yikes yikes yikes. That looks like sh*t. Just atrocious land use and way, way worse than what was there.framer wrote:Not sure if this is the latest (or final) plan, but this thing seems to be getting worse. What happened to the hotel? Senior living? Apartments?

^Actually, it looks like all the other obsolete junk that's being torn down across the country.
