Webster School is well underway. The mixed-use building at 2500 N 14th is also finally underway again after some initial excavation back in March.

Good. One down, several more to go but let’s make it permanent instead of just a “timeout”.

Just what we dont need is that crime spot to re-open just as the Jefferson Hotel is getting going with its rehab!!

^ I think you're thinking of Tucker & Washington Shell, which this one is not.

^ that Shell is on next Wednesdays Board of Adjustment hearing to revoke their occupancy permit.

^That is excellent news! I truly hope they take the same action.
That whole area within a couple blocks of there is pretty depressing.
I kind of had this idea that north city decay happened on a decades-long timeline, but you can see huge changes in just a few years. The number of buildings there in a few block radius is down probably double digits in the past 10 or so years.
Lost a building to the I-70 ramp.
Two different buildings at or near the corner of Hadley and Mullanphy have burned and been leveled in the past couple of years.
The Mullanphy Emigrant House and several other buildings are collapsing or have collapsed in the past 10-12 years.
The Greyhound depot had a fire somewhat recently, but it still stands.

Mullanphy Emigrant House is doomed. I can't see how it could possibly be saved at this point.
It has been referred to CRO for review, so we still have a chance. Sunshine Ministries has been no friend of the neighborhood. They basically just want to demolish everything around their newer buildings that they use, and I rarely see them actually helping all of the homeless people in the area. This is the last large warehouse building in an area that had a lot of buildings that would have had great reuse potential. Too bad they were all demolished over the last 20 or so years due to fires, vacancy, and bad ownership.
How does CRO get to review? It's not in a preservation review district or a national register district. Or is my map out of date?
I don't actually know. But it was referred to CRO. So we'll see what they do.

There are zoning-only building permits submitted for three office spaces and a parking lot at 1100-08 Montgomery. Anyone know more.
That series of rehab permits is related to a LIHTC award last year for acquisition and rehab of a previous LIHTC project that is out of its compliance period. Goes into 30 more years of affordability restriction after the rehab.
A home healthcare business that is currently leasing space on N 14th bought the land from LRA to build a bigger office. I'm not expecting anything exciting for the design from what they talked about. Possibly a pre-engineered steel building that the talked about maybe sticking on a better facade. I wasn't particularly excited when they presented. Good to have an expanding business, but as is often the case, we only have one shot to get it right for several decades.quincunx wrote: ↑May 02, 2023There are zoning-only building permits submitted for three office spaces and a parking lot at 1100-08 Montgomery.
