I think we need more surface lots. Specifically around the White Castle & Midas just south of 64. We need more game parking for our 82 nights a year.

^ Maybe that's how we could eliminate one of the Interstates through our fair city. Let's claim that we need more parking, tear them down and then we'll pull an end-around and build something on the land!!!

Or close the interstate, leave it constructed as is and park on it; turning it into the longest parking lot in history. St. Louis could hold the record for the most linear parking lot in the world. Think of it... miles and miles of unobstructed parking with no pesky buildings getting in the way. :)

A significant amount of the cladding has gone up on the garage.

I don't have the photos to prove it, but the aesthetics aren't too pleasing... not that much is excepted from a parking garage anyway. Hopefully:

1) they are keeping the tacky cladding to a minimum and

2) the glazing will improve the appearance of the building.

Any word on tenants for the commercial spaces on street level?

Currently city courts jurors have to park over at the Kiel garage and be shuttled over in vans. I wonder if they'll be directed to this garage now?

I'm just hoping this garage ends up be a revenue generator for the city. Between Scottrade and Busch they'll get some decent evening business. Plus priced right maybe they'll get some daytime business from AT&T and Bank of America buildings.

What an ugly piece of sh*t.

Its banality cannot be described through the Internets effectively.

Can't argue with that Doug, however there will be some lipstick on this pig.

I'd rather have this with street level retail than an empty lot any day of the week.

Has there ever been any garage built anywhere that Doug would approve of? Ever?

There's a nice one in downtown Cleveland that fits into the streetwall well, maybe I can find a pic . . .

I'll add that I don't think all of our parking garages are terrible. Without considering what they replaced, here are a couple that aren't the typical terrible:

Correct. Whether going north/south on Tucker or east/west on Clark the garage certainly gives the area a somewhat more "urban" feel than an empty lot.

Is Jaundice the only color of concrete panels available to local architects?

Jaundice would be more yellow. These are tan. A friend who used to own a bunch of rental properties called it "Rental Tan".

At least the Kiener garages show us that such panels fade to a nice almost stone-like finish...

"Rental tan" is the new red brick!
