Permit issued for drilling piers for the Spencer development at 4101 Manchester

The Raising Canes lot has equipment on the site along with some holes drilled through the concrete on there too.
I'm surprised the drawing in that article wasn't posted here. I was provided this rendering this week of "The Dogwood in the Grove". Trivers is the architecture firm. Looks like a good addition. Should start in the next few months.STLrainbow wrote: ↑Jun 27, 2018And the Social Affair catering company has outgrown its space in the old Shaw gas station and will be moving to Manchester just off Tower Grove Ave and putting a second floor up top.

It's still under construction. It seems to have slowed a bit the past 3 months... not sure why?

Assuming all goes well, how long do we think it will be before the developments in the Grove, and the developments at Cortex and Foundry, wind their way up and down Vandeventer, between Commerce Bank and IKEA, creating a seamless transition between the areas?
Five years?
Five years?
I think this process would be aided quite a bit by rebuilding the Sarah overpass of the I64 on ramp as an at grade intersection like they did at FPP and Kingshighway. Looking at the topography of that intersection it would almost certainly be doable and would go a long way towards connecting the pedestrian fabric of Cortex and The Grove.

I think with Rockwell Brewery, Missouri Health, Woodford Lofts and now Greenstreet building on the Liberty Bell Company building lot, the development will go southwest on Vandeventer too...

I want the development to go in all directions, but I'm excited about the possibility of neighborhoods merging together seamlessly in St. Louis.
Central West End to Cortex/Midtown to the Grove seems like it's going to happen.

Whoa. I've never even thought about this before but that would be amazing. Unfortantely MoDOT would probably want to turn that section of Gratiot between Sarah and Vandeventer into a 5 lane road. It would de-clutter those two intersections around the QT though.pmbender wrote: I think this process would be aided quite a bit by rebuilding the Sarah overpass of the I64 on ramp as an at grade intersection like they did at FPP and Kingshighway. Looks like the Reliance bank on Tower Grove/Manchester has been rebranded as a Simmons Bank. I'm going to miss their neon sign, hopefully Simmons can get something similar
Yeah, they spray painted all the green awnings black and put up a cheap sign. It looks terrible.GoHarvOrGoHome wrote: Looks like the Reliance bank on Tower Grove/Manchester has been rebranded as a Simmons Bank. I'm going to miss their neon sign, hopefully Simmons can get something similar

They did the same to the Reliance location in Frontenac. My guess is that we'll eventually see some better branding and that this was just a temporary measure - although I highly doubt we get anything close to the cool neon.
I guess Reliance is just the latest victim of the trend in mergers in banks. Really a shame.
The bright white lights on Manchester have basically ruined the sundown vibe on the Grove strip. Anyone else have issue with the street lighting?
(raises hand) I got a migraine driving through the last time I saw them. Can't think of a worse example of street lights in the City.
Wrote to the Grove CID and was told that this was the light option that business owners voted for.
Its a shame. I now avoid the Grove after dark. Guess some of us are more sensitive to loud lights/sounds.

Wow, that looks a lot smaller than I was expecting. Good that it's right up to the sidewalk.

I was near the Grove yesterday and drove past a really great building on Tower Grove Avenue, at Vista Avenue. The address is 1400 Tower Grove Ave.
It was boarded up, and was fenced off.
I wasn't able to look at it for long.... Is this building getting rehabbed or is it getting razed?
It's right in between The Grove and the McRee developments. Seems like it would have tons of potential.
