A few more infill buildings of this size will give Manchester a much more urban feel. Its amazing how a simple 3 story infill with urban form can have such presence.

Like I just posted about CWE, I'm curious as heck what retail may be moving into all these storefronts that will be available... hopefully they get filled with a diverse mix that serves neighborhood needs and not just more bar/restaurant. I also hope we'll have some more minority owned biz.

I'm not sure if this is new news or not, but a development called "Adams Grove" looks like it will be proceeding... it is a combo of new and rehab units on 27 parcels that will bring 50 subsidized rental units. Mostly on 4400 blocks of Swan, Norfolk and Vista.

^This development is in response to the Wash U Medical Center request for proposals about a year ago. I don't have any more details than what the block grant says, though.

^ thanks... I know it is affordable housing -- it got CDA and MHDC funds -- but don't know anything more. Good to see some new affordable housing in the mix and it should also go a long ways towards filling in the ample vacant parcels in that neck of the FPSE woods.
Do you have any links to info about this? I've seen signs on some vacant lots related to this, but nothing else.roger wyoming II wrote:I'm not sure if this is new news or not, but a development called "Adams Grove" looks like it will be proceeding... it is a combo of new and rehab units on 27 parcels that will bring 50 subsidized rental units. ^ Not really... I did post a link to the CDA awards somewhere -- iirc on the 2015 City Project thread -- but that really only has the addresses and grant amount. The only other place I've seen anything on it is on the MHDC site (it also won one of the coveted state 9% LIHTC awards) but again not very much in-depth info. Park Central is involved.

I believe the RFP requested that 20% or 25% of the units be affordable. I suspect the bulk of the remainder will be market rate.roger wyoming II wrote:^ It is affordable houing
Any word on Green Street's Chouteau's Grove? Thought construction was supposed to start late this year.....

^ great question; that was one of my year-end Q's, too. iirc, Green Street said it expected to close on the property this past spring and get underway with construction in summer. But it doesn't look like they have obtained the property from Commerce yet.
Here's an update on Adam's Grove, affordable housing coming to the Grove. Also a hint of 150 market-rate homes coming south of Manchester:

The pictures show what appear to be a few viable looking properties that are slated for demo.framer wrote:Here's an update on Adam's Grove, affordable housing coming to the Grove. Also a hint of 150 market-rate homes coming south of Manchester:

Does anyone know when or if the Grove's new light art instillation will take place? In the Forest Park Southeast neighborhood plan it states it funded and should have started in '15.

German Engineering comes to The Grove as UCBC sets up the U.R.B. right across the street:
http://nextstl.com/2016/01/urban-chestn ... the-grove/
The U.R.B. will occupy 3,500 sf immediately across Taylor Avenue at 4501 Manchester from the UCBC Grove Brewery & Bier Hall. The new brewery will have its own 2 bbl pilot brewery occupying the central space, with a consumer research bar area and small pizza-by-the slice counter on either side.
The space at 4501 has been vacant since Joyia Tapas closed in April of last year. That effort lasted nearly a year and a half and followed at least two other restaurants that experienced short runs at the location....
