Students would first spend two years at A.T. Still’s new Missouri School of Dentistry & Oral Health, now under construction at its Kirksville campus, before moving to St. Louis in year three to begin clinical work at a 50,000-square-foot facility.

^I hope the design is good too, but I'm sure they'll be sticking to Lafayette Square's design codes. Too bad they did not choose downtown St. Louis though. Downtown St. Louis could use more healthcare workers and students.

Technically, this is Peabody Darst Webb, but people will call it what they will. With this and the food hub and possibly the building at Park and Truman seeing new life, this area should be booming!

Would a 50,000 sq. ft. facility along with associated parking likely take up the whole block west of the power plant? I suspect that with the location and principals involved the design will be okay.

So with all of the debate and confusion about what neighborhood the dentistry school is proposed, shouldn't the title become, "New Dental School near Lafayette Square"?

Still, it certainly wouldn't hurt if the designers of the new school followed aspects of Lafayette Square's design guidelines although a more modern aesthetic wouldn't hurt either since it would be outside of the historic district boundaries.

No. You have it wrong. Since it is already home to Nestle Purina Petcare, the Peabody Darst Webb should become downtown south.

^ Good question. I believe that AT Still recently did get its accreditation up in Kirksville for the mother school and which the Saint Louis school was dependent upon, so I hope that means this is a go here.

The developers are meeting with the residences of the Georgian next week, I think, to go over their plans... so I assume it is definitely still a go (for now). Also, the developers of the Georgian and Fields Foods disclosed to residents that plans for the remaining buildings in the complex to be converted to market-rate apartments are also underway.

This project has been active in the Board of Aldermen this month... vacating streets IIRC, approving plans, etc.

Cannon Design and the people behind the dental school presented to the Georgian. I couldn't attend, but here is a video distributed to the resident listserv of the development. Too much parking for me, but it will be shared with Paladium, Element, and ClimbSoILL.
