Imagine if the state capitol was still in St.Louis or St.Charles things be much much more different . Im not sure if i want St.Louis to experience Nashville, Austin type growth but i think eventually St.Louis will experience growth whether theres a city county consolidation.
Anyways this development resembles a little bit of Ballpark Village either way kudos to Nashville its definitely one of my favorite cities to visit  .

I agree with you. I really don't want to see St Louis explode like Austin or Nashville. Rents are sky high and the infrastructure can't keep up. I'd much rather prefer St Louis to be a strong-stable growth market, which I think it is already for the most part.

I actually think St. Louis is way more equipped than Austin or Nashville to handle another million or so people in the next 20 years. I believe St. Louis has the highest highway to resident ratio in the country. St. Louis has more infrastructure than it can handle, especially considering how far we have spread out in the last few decades.

Yes. The city was built for a million people. Bring on some significant growth.

I highly paid professional acquaintance of mine moved from St. Louis city to Nashville about a year ago. I recently asked her how are things in Nashville. All she said was "people seem happier".

^Interestingly enough, we just moved back to STL from DC and can say the exact same thing. People seem happier here than they do in DC or Baltimore.

505 Church Street Appears in this screenshot about as tall at the AT&T Building. The weird thing is is that Google says the height of the building is to be 605 feet tall while Wikipedia says 545 feet tall. Which is it? Unless The Development Company changed it. The building is on the Center-Right of this phot. You can barely see the crane.

This is what it is supposed to look like for those who don't know.

Emporis lists 505 Church as 550', for what it's worth.

I see a lot of cranes and little character. I'm sure Nashville is nice and all but the redevelopment going on in legacy cities like Saint Louis and Pittsburgh and Detroit are infinitely more interesting in my book.

Currently sitting in BNA after a weekend trip to Nashville. This was my first time actually getting to explore the city in several years. Here's a recap, and some opinions of the 'new' Nashville.
Firstly, our trip started off very bumpy. Literally. Our flight in from STL on SWA took us through Cindy, very rough. We also waited on the tarmac in a severe storm for 35 minutes. Once inside BNA, the terminal was extremely overcrowded. However, those do not reflect the city. What was unfortunate was the near 50 minutes in gridlock leaving the airport going to West End Ave. One of the telltale signs of growing pains the Nashville area is experiencing. Another aspect of note was how unbelievably expensive the city is. There also was a total lack of public transportation, as we chose not to rent a car-big mistake. We enjoyed Broadway and 12 South, but I was also surprised at how small Nashville proper is. I don't recall the city being as 'dense' as it is.

Nashville will have a Light Rail Line in the coming years but It will only serve certain areas, not the whole city

Any word on how well ride-sharing services are working there?

I remember hearing about that a while back. I asked some of our local friends about it and they said theres been no further discussion of a light rail and/or will most likely not happen.

Both Uber and Lyft are expensive. 17.00$ to and from BNA to city center. No price surge.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like you might've been able to use MTA (bus service) but that it's far from extensive. Wikipedia quote:
Most bus routes serve the downtown transit station, Music City Central. This makes MTA the largest transit agency where most of the bus routes terminate in a Central Business District with no crosstown service.

Nashville mayor exploring the sale of international airport to fund mass transit

"Mayor Megan Barry's office is exploring the sale of Nashville International Airport, as the city looks for ways to finance its $6 billion mass-transit overhaul, according to multiple sources familiar with the conversations.

The idea of selling the right to run the city's airport came after Metro officials were approached by a potential buyer, who suggested the privatization of Nashville's airport could fetch as much as $3 billion, according to sources."

I think the city might be planning on doing something similar if we can sell Lambert. All of sudden $500M local match for a N/S Metrolink doesn't seem like such a major deal when you have $3B cash on hand. With our small city limits, I think St. Louis could do phenomenal things with its infrastructure with that kind of influx of cash.

^ Certainly can make the argument that build out of N-S city street running portion is doable and could easily fast track with cash like that in hand. I would assume that NGA route would be looked in more favorable light considering Feds plan to spend north of a billion dollars and therefore any additional Fed support of transit would like to see it go past NGA. Not sure how it plays out though if POTUS is successful in killing Transit New Starts. But could see money going out the back door of national security to fund improvements as part of a new NGA facility

Of course, POTUS would immediately claim it as his success as part of his $1 trillion in infrastructure investment leveraged with private dollars which is really the city having to sell part of its soul/best asset to get there. Probably would show up to claim that he is rebuilding inner city. Just not sure if that is best outcome in the long run....City giving up its best asset for a big transit project now. Or city keeping best asset and finding a way for incremental streetcar and or BRT say on Grand Ave.

Wonder how that plays out in Nashville, selling the airport for transit? Might go over better in St. Louis with a significant portion of population dependent on transit if a portion also goes to rebuilding streets, sidewalks, etc.

Just to be clear that headline is not accurate. They are not selling the airport. They (just like STL) are just exploring to have it be privately run. The ownership wouldn't change. I still think it is a horrible idea for both airports but I won't get into that.
