I agree. Shame the XFL folded, I thought Hunsicker and the Battlehawks did really good outreach and community work on a very limited budget.

Not sure if anyone who is interested doesn't already know but there is a preseason game between MLS-NextPro side St. Louis City SC 2 and SLU tonight at SLU at 7:00. I believe it is free admission.
Wanted to bump this and see if anyone is going https://www.stlcitysc.com/news/st-louis ... ew-york-fcBlack02AltimaSE wrote: ↑Mar 10, 2022Not sure if anyone who is interested doesn't already know but there is a preseason game between MLS-NextPro side St. Louis City SC 2 and SLU tonight at SLU at 7:00. Really interested to hear about this since I always wanted to see St. Louis FC play there.

I will definitely be there (and at the tailgate on the top level of the SLU parking garage beforehand). Tickets are still available ($12 w/ fees) on SeatGeek. Search for "STL CITY 2". Searching for "St Louis City SC 2" will bring up listings for away games posted by other teams.
They haven't listed any other home games on SeatGeek so maybe the rest of the season will be free to attend? Maybe they are just waiting to see what kind of attendance they get for game 1.

I would definitely go if I could but I have sweet 16 tickets ...in Philadelphia. If I still lived in downtown STL, it would have been a 12 minute or so bike ride.

Looks great, the color combos work really well. I like the pop of yellow.
Interesting... AppleTV as a sleeve sponsor, or is that an MLS league-wide sponsorship?

Yes. Since Apple TV+ will be the home of all MLS games.TalkinDev wrote: ↑Nov 16, 2022Looks great, the color combos work really well. I like the pop of yellow.

Apple and Major League Soccer have inked a deal for a 10-year partnership. All 29 MLS clubs will have an Apple TV patch in a different color to mark agreement.
Schedule is out:

I'd personally trade the third KC game for a home game against Chicago...

I highly recommend Dave Lange’s new updated book “Soccer Made in St Louis, 2nd edition”. I bought a signed copy from Dave directly after one of his lectures. They are available everywhere even the checkout line at Schnucks I noticed. Lots of vintage photos and great updated research timed for release now just before our MLS start.
I learned about a lot of soccer firsts for St Louis and America — some preceding England’s. There was no question from the audience Dave could not answer. Such as why the design of the ball changed a few decades ago, and where America league soccer ranks compared to the other leagues of the world. (about 10th).
Good research and writing from a St Louisan steeped in St Louis soccer.

The news that Kansas City was Ronaldo’s 2nd choice after Saudi is really driving my imagination. I know STL City is brand new but imagine if we brought in a big name Euro star. Might have to keep the dome after all!
I don't think any American team could actually afford him, and all for the best.
^Yeah, the league's still trying to establish itself. The last thing it needs right now is out-of-control salary escalation.

^ establish it self? The league is in its 30th year and 27th playing games. People that weren’t born yet when it was founded went to college and have 7 years on work on their resume
The league needs to break up the one owner (the league) owning all the teams and have true individual owners and loosen up spending on players

The league existing for 30 years doesn't mean it is established especially compared to other American professional sports.dbInSouthCity wrote: ↑Jan 03, 2023^ establish it self? Read this Twitter thread about how David Beckham turned his LA Galaxy stint in to a $500 million profit.
The first 10 years had a lot of growing pains - There was a sizable contraction and the league was in really bad shape in the early 2000's (like close to insolvency) - Its only in the past decade that it has found stability, though compared to the evolution of the NFL, that is relatively quick, heck the NBA was teetering on disaster in the late 70's till Magic and Byrd rescued it and then Jordan elevated it to top tier statusdbInSouthCity wrote: ↑Jan 03, 2023^ establish it self? Henry, Becks and Schweinsteiger were nice retirement type pick-ups but pretty well past their prime we need some homegrown superstars to #1 exist and #2 commit to MLSdweebe wrote: ↑Jan 04, 2023Read this Twitter thread about how David Beckham turned his LA Galaxy stint in to a $500 million profit.
