The site work has moved at a very fast pace in the last 4-5 days, a lot of earth work has been done on the modot interchange area,  trees cleared at the SE corner of the stadium side, parking lots on the north end of the stadium are dug up.

Carolyn Kindle Betz dishes on MLS team’s plans during league media day in New York
https://www.bizjournals.com/stlouis/new ... s_headline

Bit of a misleading headline (shocker from the BJ) since there isn't much new information in here.  Like DB mentioned up thread, lots of earthwork being done and whatnot at the site itself.  Sounds like an official groundbreaking is coming in the Spring.

The most interesting part was what she had to say about corporate sponsorships, but still pretty vague there too:
“We have to refine the stadium design to see what we can offer [companies]. But what we’re most excited about is all the corporations, big or small, want to support us: whether that’s naming rights, suites…we’ll take it all,” she said. “But when we really sit down to think about our founding partners, that will probably take a little bit of time. We just want to make sure we can all get the details right.”

Kindle Betz did say talks have occurred with one brand that is synonymous with St. Louis.  “I don’t know how you can have any kind of professional sports team in St. Louis without having discussions with AB InBev,” she said. “So far it’s been a great partnership – they have a lot of product to offer and we have a lot of places we can sell them so we’ll (just) have to work out the details on that one.

I walked thru the site today. It’s mostly fenced off but there is a few spots you can wiggle thru and I didn’t see any no trespassing signs so....

Didn’t get a photo of this but a new parking lot was poured at 20th and Olive, guessing its for constructing workers.

New rendering and it’s bad. It’s we didn’t get $30m from the state bad. That glassed enclosed space along Market appears gone.

How can you tell?  You can't see the Market Street facade on that rendering, like, at all...

Looks good to me—especially that 60 story building near OCW....

I don't think it looks bad...but it does appear to have been scaled back a bit.  I don't know if Market Street still has a glass facade or not, but if you look at the full size image you can see into it and it just looks like open plaza space, not the original event space that was proposed.

Yeah why is no one talking about this... HOK isn’t just randomly drawing building into the background. That is based on something.

Glass box isn't gone but it has been changed. No longer all glass. I wouldn't say these renderings are an improvement. I hope HOK is still working with Snow Kreilich, their presence could really make this design something incredible. I'm actually a bit worried that they're avoiding the Market Street elevation. It's like they VE'd all the glass and are trying to hide it.

STL Biz Journal: MLS ownership group unveils new stadium renderings, tweaks to design (no pay wall)

From the article:
“As the stadium design continues to evolve, the ownership group’s vision to create a stadium district that will be the heart of St. Louis soccer and continue St. Louis’ growth and revitalization hasn’t changed. Making the stadium more accessible from 22nd street and adjusting planting locations to create a more active public environment will only enhance the stadium’s ability to connect Downtown West and extend the Gateway Mall, while directing it north and south,” said Julie Snow, co-founder of Snow Kreilich Architects.

Snow is designing the stadium along with St. Louis-based architecture firm HOK. The fresh renderings come as St. Louis’ MLS team gets closer to starting construction on its stadium. The St. Louis Board of Aldermen on Friday approved legislation aimed at advancing the project.
I think these tweaks are reasonable.

Also, there's talk in the Ballpark Village thread about those beige inserts into the Eastward View rendering. FYI.

^^ Thanks for posting, aprice, and agreed.  I still think it looks pretty good for the most part, but I wouldn't call this an improvement.  The team office looks quite a bit different too.  Looks like the field with the city flag on the east plaza got nixed.  The event space does still appear to be there in some form though.  And that one lone holdout building is gone too.

Like DB said on Twitter...looks cheaper.

I was used to the now previous rendering this will grow on me. They are going for a more open and inclusive surrounding. None the less still very exciting. 461 million is the projected cost.

From the PD:
https://www.stltoday.com/business/local ... 6cb1e.html
An ownership spokesman said the design changes are unrelated to the decision by Missouri Gov. Mike Parson's administration to withhold $30 million in state tax credits the owners had been counting on. A lawyer for the MLS group said last month that designers and architects were "looking at things" after the state's decision.
Not sure I believe that...

^I actually like the skylights. The rest of the design feels very similar. Some of the renderings from Nolen's thread make it look like the "club/event space" area is still enclosed to some appreciable extent. The first rendering, from the SE corner looking somewhat northwest into the stadium, clearly shows a glass box with doors. It looks different, to be sure, but it still appears enclosed. Maybe less glass along Market and more wall. Honestly, I think I basically like this design. It's going to be okay. It's nice that it's glass, steel, and perhaps concrete. (At least for the stands.) This should be an honest structure, and a neat place to watch a game. If the product on the field is bad it won't matter how good the stadium is. And if the product is good . . . Let's be honest for a minute: from the pictures I've seen there was really nothing particularly remarkable about Sportsman's Park. But the baseball was legendary and it was doubtless a perfectly fine place to see the history that unfolded there. This looks fine. Good sight lines. Clean design. Should be easy to get in and out. Should have good air circulation. Good pedestrian circulation. Enough space for amenities. Looks like it's got some premium seats for the fancy people, but those shouldn't get in the way of the experience for the rest of us. I think I'll like this park. As they say, the kids will be okay. Just . . . make sure they play good ball and all else will follow. ;-)

Not bad.  I like the fact that it is square and not a bowl.

I wasn't familiar with Snow Kreilich Architects, so I checked out their website. Looks like they do very nice, modernist work. I hope this gig gets them some more work in STL.

Covid-19?

Could a work pause cause this project to miss significant deadlines?

MLS group was awarded a significantly smaller tax credit package from the MDFB today.  Even less than the PowerPlex complex in Hazelwood lol.  Ridiculous.

I would assume with pro sports pretty much shutdown that any milestones and deadlines goals in the near term got moved as well.   Big assumption and absolute speculation on my part but would only be logical from a biz perspective to push the pause button until you are more certain of things.
