Yep I'd say Bill Eigel is definitely running for governor with this stunt. Chesterfield isn't even in his district.

What's the "adult content" in the show?

Seems like another solution in search of a problem.  I doubt very much there is a significant number of minors attending these shows.  I wager this "enforcement" will generate plenty of controversy, force people into their respective ideological corners and generate campaign contributions but its literal impact on people actually planning to attend the show will be somewhere between negligible and zero.

It basically CRT, or kids identifying as cats, or whatever all over again.  Same playbook, different characters.

FWIW i have never been to a show like that so maybe i am wrong and people treat it as a family outing.  I certainly haven't watched videos of it at my own home and carefully examined the various states of stimulation and arousal.  😅

The Missouri Senate voted last year to ban common forms of contraceptives from being paid for by the state’s Medicaid program

‘Anything’s on the table’: Missouri legislature may revisit contraceptive limits post-Roe

If you accept that restriction of any specific birth control is acceptable, then the end of the road for that thinking is that only sex that results in sperm seeking eggs is acceptable.

The shameless, amoral Republicans strike again. Shame on them for using these scare tactics of made up problems to distract their base while passing tax cuts for the wealthy.

Last I checked, nearly a quarter of the assessed value of SLPS is personal property. Not all cars of course.

I love stupid crap like this.
“I think it appeals to anybody who owns a vehicle and doesn’t like to be punished,” said state Sen. Bill Eigel, R-Weldon Spring, in St. Charles County, calling the tax a “significant burden” on working and middle-class people who rely on their vehicles to get to work.
It's not a gift to the rich, it's relief for working people! Why can't we just exempt the first $10k of real value per person or something? Hmm dunno next question.
Eigel said he would “disagree strongly” that his bill is “a special gift” to renters, adding he’s “never heard of” a landlord not including property taxes into rent charges.
So it's being replaced by real estate taxes. I guess punishing people for needing a place to live is okay? Who falls for this garbage?

There's a term for renters who don't think they pay property taxes- renter's illusion.

I will lose my mind if the state GOP gets rid of voter initiatives.

That's not what the article says they're trying to do, to be clear; but does anyone really see a difference? To increase the threshold from 8% to 15% would have their desired effect. I don't think any of the voter initiatives that we've passed in front of them would have made it to the ballot with this kind of bar for entry.

It'll double or more the cost to gather the sigs. It's the only mechanism to that left of center stuff can be passed anymore, since we've sorted ourselves so well that few districts are competitive.

Well yeah, ballot initiatives were literally a concession to 19th century socialists, no need to do that anymore now that cops have tanks.

Is there any way to stop the state GOP from increasing the threshold for voter ballot initiatives?

I feel like they've got some urgency in getting this done right now to stop abortion from hitting the ballot in 2024. I feel like that's what they're thinking about.

I believe the change requires a constitutional amendment, which we would vote on.

Okay, great, I guess I didn't realize that the voters would have a chance to (once again) go against the wishes of the politicians they elected.

Republicans trying this hard to cover up the will of the people would be funny if they weren't actually somewhat good at enacting it.

They talked about this on Donnybrook last night. Really not a big deal; men already have a dress code.

I think Missouri politics would be a lot better if they all had to wear 1990s-era Starter jackets on the House floor.

Men can only wear certain types of fabric?  And who wrote (and presumably voted on) the dress code for men?  If face masks were proposed to be added to the dress code a year or two ago, would it still not have been a big deal?

I think the issue and it's a fair point is that it's a bunch of men deciding the dress code for women.

Speaking of mandating how a person dresses.  I certainly hope this does not get much traction.

I am in Little Rock for Miss Gay America, and Arkasas fears similar laws here are going to pass and prevent the pageant from being here in the future.   Similar legislation is appearing in Texas and other states, we are being told.

Don't worry, though. It doesn't affect Framer firsthand, so it's not really a big deal.
