Amazing news - really hope this one races to the finish line!

Since we can't imminent domain a highway... can the city just offer to buy I44 downtown from the state? (mostly kidding)

Was reading the press release and saw a new rendering from inside Busch. The tower is going to make such an impact to the skyline

Makes sense as I assume getting to a development agreement between the Foundation/new owners and Cordish will take some time.   But to JaneJacobsGhost question,  would the Foundation have means and finances to move forward with demo is the question.  In same breath, ideally the development agreement is in place before any demo starts.

So

Kingshighway and Lindell 2025 start
AHM West downtown timber tower 2026 start
Millennium kickstarts 2027 (maybe 2026 site prep/demo)
BPV 2CW .........???? (couldn't help myself to include)

My "best fellow stl-development-stanning friend" did a comparison on top of the render just shared - really shows the difference!

These are now included in the initial rendering folder from February. Somewhat funny that they reused the One Cardinal Way rendering for their "inside Busch Stadium" view, but maybe it was easier to edit than taking a modern-day photo.

Stunning!  Not only is it aesthetically pleasing to the eye, it gives DT much needed grade "A" office space.

Wish they'd make the building on the right leg of the arch a story taller so it would be symmetrical with the left leg...

If it is actually going to take years, they should
(1) clean it (2) work with light artist to get it looking funky while we wait.

unfortunately, this is not possible, the building is in such bad shape that even sending people to put lights in is dangerous (see the PGAV report thats attached to the abatement bill)

The girls & boys over at KC rag are fussing over why do cordish’s buildings look better than theirs. I mean we only have one building built so far compared to almost 4 or 5 of them built there. Even one goes further to talk down about one cardinal way & say theirs looks better. I happen to like one cardinal way it has a different look on the west facing side. I just find it to be childish yet humorous on them whining about Cordish even being involved in some sort of redevelopment here in St.Louis. They want St.Louis to fail so badly. They are likely praying that the millennium redevelopment falls through that’ll make them feel so much better. If this gets built as is we’d be so darn fortunate. We deserve this so much.

It's getting built. Gateway Foundation changes literally everything about the development process. A local and transparent champion that can guarantee progress with a recognized developer who has been begging Cardinals to let them build. The design might change, but it is getting built.  Compare it to Albion which is finally under construction after three-four years even with existing ownership of the property. Obviously a challenging timeline and it's finally under construction.

Millennium has went from problem, idea, design, ownership in about ONE year. Demo and remediation will take 18 months. Construction upward will start Q2 2027 (my guess) and complete in Q1-Q2 2029 (again my guess).

^ I, for one, really hope they don't chop this down in height. We need a few taller sexy towers like this to add some much needed density and stretch to our DT skyline. We've had plenty of 20-30 floor box towers go up in Clayton, I love this design and height as is.

Make it happen, Cordish!!!

Like addxb2, (saw your posts on airliners.net) the petty side of me would love for us to land a 3x BA flight just to listen to them whine some more.

^ that would be fun. Almost as fun as watching all their effort to retain Chiefs/Royals end with only the St. Louis Cardinals benefiting in Missouri. That’s a knee slapper.

That said, let’s be careful of making this conversation about an amazing development about their biased opinions.

What are the chances they make it shorter? I haven't seen that discussed anywhere, but I dunno how conceptual the renderings are.

As pdm_ad mentioned I think we already have enough 20-30 story buildings even with Albion being 30 & 314 being 29 floors I think the Rivebend if built as is is a great height to balance out out our downtown skyline. I mean we have like 2 years to start possibly seeing cranes… I absolutely believe Cordish means well in building this project as is with several modifications. We’ll see as the months & years go by.

I responded to them since I'm active over there. They're jealous by a big building being proposed by Cordish since some are fed up by the "monotonous Cordish wall" that's been established at P&L. They were hoping for 4 Light to break from the trend, but it doesn't.

I figure the Millennium Hotel project will get done in due time. As addxb2 mentioned, Gateway Arch Park Foundation is pushing this ahead and has support in City Hall. Downtown boosters are also supportive. Cordish themselves are incentivized to do it since they're held back on Ballpark Village a bit and have taken a fair amount of blame for the slow progress made there over the course of almost 20 years. When you have multiple groups rooting for you, and the desire to rid the skyline of an eyesore (at this point), you're going to get it done.

There is absolutely no excuse for ballpark village to not be built out by now.

I like the design and think the involvement of Gateway Foundation in this development site will be massive for downtown, as we’ve already seen with the highway removal discussion.

It would be cool for there to be some ode to the Millenium as I’m fine with the demo but it was iconic. Some rotating or cylindrical feature of the building would be awesome, even if small

I still wish the Stouffer Hotel Tower could have been saved. That being said, I love the way the new tower balances the skyline; can't wait to see it finished.
