^ Snark aside, that routing doesn’t provide any connections to people that live in western U City, Olivette, Overland, and a handful of smaller North County municipalities.

It’s not just about the airport haha…

There is only going to be one option here and that’s north county to south county through the city.  And I’d put it at about 25% chance of moving forward.   Electeds will have to do some Olympic level pretzel twisting to make it sound logical.
Consultants will put in studies whatever you want them to put to say built or not build it.

I know they’re only looking at N/S.

I didn’t know that meant we weren’t allowed to discuss other ideas and thoughts here. My apologies.

Doesn't the rolling stock need to be updated badly?

I think the most bang for the buck would be clayton up to the airport along 170.  A lot of actual ridership would occur and could spur some TOD along the way.
Never going to happen because to state the obvious you can get on metrolink in Clayton today and take it to the airport
That is a giant pain in the a*s and will never win out over a quick uber for those in downtwon clayton. Further, those on the western edge of UCity near 170 Delmar and Olive don't have access to the metrolink.

Yes, I believe metro is planning a $155m spend to replace 1/3 of it.  RFP is going out soon and first cars should role in around 2024

^^^^ Check is in the mail ;)

^^ That’s my thought.  I rarely use it to the airport because of the extra 10-15 minutes of riding into the city and waiting for another train only to have to double back out west again.  Like I said, my reasons are selfish haha.

It basically triples the amount of time (from 15 to around 45 minutes) and costs about 1/15th the price compared to an Uber or Lyft.

I’ve always wondered what it would operationally look like to have a third line that runs from Shreswbury to the Airport.

It’s not as seamless but thanks to our LRV being bi-directional and Forest Park having a track switch… a blue line train could technically arrive at Forest Park then depart to Lambert.

It would be a quick hustle for the operator but to the passenger it would be a one seat trip.

With the Galleria debacle Chesterfield and St Chuck will never allow the Metrolink to come to their cities. Never.

^Well, that sounds a bit prematurely pessimistic.  Things can change.  Who knows what the future holds.  Also, what's the "Galleria debacle"?

People from exurban St. Louis that don’t shop at the Galleria think the MetroLink ruined the Galleria haha. It didn’t.

I live in Shrewsbury and I’ve been going to the Galleria since the late 80’s. And I know for a fact that even people at Westfield, whom I know, state that as a fact.

Also, ask any store or restaurant owner there. You’re wrong and you’re being disingenuous.

I understood it as the mall owners/staff claim theft and general incidents increased as soon as metrolink opened. As in metrolink caused it.

The RFT ran a hit piece back around 2008 that said the same thing. Richmond Heights Police disagreed. There was I think one year went it went up a bit, and a few years later was below where it had been prior to Cross County.

No I’m not. I live less than two miles from the Galleria and shop there regularly. You’re wrong and being disingenuous.

It's convenient to blame the changes at the Galleria on the opening of the blue line (2007?) and not talk about Jamestown Mall and Northwest either being closed or essentially dead around the same time.

And I missed the Metrolink line that runs to West County Mall. Or the Metrolink lines that caused Crestwood Plaza to die and Chesterfield Mall to be on death's door.

I don’t think anyone here, or at least I don’t believe the blue line and galleria crime are connected. But it is something I’ve read about and heard community members peddle in the past. It’s a concern people have that is not based in reality (a real fake concern). The “criminals take transit to commit crimes” line is repeated all over the country.

If I have to put my money on one line and one line only, it's running something from Florrisant, down 170, joining the blue line but then extending down RIver Des Peres to somewhere in South County.
