Per the new edition of Sauce magazine, Marshall Faulk is planning to open a restaurant on the landing this year, does anyone know anything about this?

I don't. I wonder if it will really be his or if he'll just lend out his name?

Probably going into the former Planet Hollywood? Right across the giant highway, Eads Bridge, Memorial Drive clusterfudge :D from the Dome.

Whether he's an owner or not, I'm just glad he went with a downtown location, instead of Westport or Chesterfield or something.

According to today's Business Journal, you're right. Faulk owns the building now, and his agent says he'll unveil his plans later this year.

Drove by last night and was wondering if any news. Would be cool if plans were in motion during preseason.

Per Alive magazine, Nelly is involved in the project as well and it will be called Skybox

If Nelly is involed, then I imagine it will be another Landing party destination.

I don't understand how attaching Nelly to a project means its gonna be a party destination. Nelly, so far, has proven to be a pretty ambitious entrepreneur in and around the St. Louis area. He's the main financier behind Vokal and Apple Bottoms clothing lines, and he's been linked to the Union Club project. Maybe Marshall Faulk and Nelly want to open a fine dining establishment, or maybe they want to open a club with a swimming pool instead of a dance floor. Until we get details, I don't think it's safe to assume what the project is gonna be based upon who is investing.

I walked past the old Planet Hollywood last weekend after the Rams/Panthers game. It appears no change since last fall.

Update on this project from this November's Sauce Magazine:

"Star power at Skybox

The star quality of the Landing will increase fourfold when Skybox, a new venture from co-owners Nelly, Marshall Faulk and the NBA’s Larry Hughes and Darius Miles, debuts in late December or early January. Located in the former home of Planet Hollywood, 800 N. Third St., the upscale bar and grill will feature sports memorabilia, high definition TVs, private VIP skyboxes elevated above the main floor and a menu with Creole and soul food influences. “We’re making soul food sexy,” said Pat Shannon, who is consulting on restaurant management for the star-studded venture"

Yeah, cause there's no way to make the fat people who eat that kind of stuff sexy! Nothing gets me hornier than a 380lb pear shaped waddler in sansabelt slacks and a Marshall Faulk Jersey from 1999.

BTW, Darius Miles and Larry Huges realize that no one in this town gives a rats ass about the NBA right? I mean, heck, most people probably have forgotten Huges even played at SLU. Basketball is lower on the St. Louis radar than air hockey.

Sounds good. I hope the exterior signage takes advantage of its prominent location.

^^True. But I still hope STL lands an NBA team sooner than later. Best of luck to them!

Exactly. One less empty building in an area of St. Louis that a lot of tourists see. And backers with enough money to make their idea work. I'm not a soul food person, but it sounds good to me.

Well, they'd better start hauling ass. Because when I was down at the Rams game last Sunday I didn't see any sign of work going on.

Hello uninformed post of the day. St. Louis is a GREAT basketball city. The Billikens are gonna sell out all their games when they get their new arena, and get very good crowds at ScottTrade. When the city hosts NCAA events, they sell a lot of tickets. The Mizzou/Illini Braggin Rights game is one of the biggest events in college basketball, and attendence at smaller college and high school basketball games is incredibly high.

There is a large contingent of NBA fans here, including myself. But I don't expect someone like yourself to understand. You've obviously made up your mind.

Don't forget the Valley tourney. That's a HUGE deal and draws all different kinds of fans. I personally, have been every year, without attending any of the schools, or even having a rooting interest in any.
