LUSH ..soft opening tonight..charity event tomorrow ..

Look for the grand opening next weekend .. they have some national press and look to be a St. Louis HOT SPOT!! see u there! 8)

PostSep 01, 2007#29

LUSH had a very successful "soft " opening last night to just a few hundred of their close friends! The venue has taken St. louis to a new level ..

NY/LA/Miami to name a few w/o the crazy prices..

Crowd was primarily 25-45 y.olds .. afffluent .. or so it seemed. place was

really hoppin starting at 11 .. spoke with the NEW HEAD CHEF who indicated the restaurant will open by next weekend .. again, most of the pricing is that of St. Louis taste and not the high priced coast... sure the FOX/Powell and SLU event goers will be happy with the munu..

also wanted to note.. the city officials bent over backwards to help us get the place open for this charity event ..KUDO's to the city!

PostSep 15, 2007#30

Lush opened for lunch .. I can say the crab cakes are very good along with the house salad .. most items are 8-11.00 .. Dinner will start next week ..

the place is THE PLACE on Friday and Sat. nights .. at capacity.. which i would guess to be 4 - 500 people.. anyone else been there ???

went out with a big crowd of people last night to watch MNF and the topic of LUSH came up. Let's just say that the reviews were not good. Basically every agreed that the layout totally sucked... I'm guessing that this place won't last long.

Went there 2 weeks ago from 10pm-midnight. It was packed. However, it was a really bad setup. Think of a really big rectangle, with a bar on the right side.

Music was OK, but the atmosphere was just BLAH. I felt like I was in an indoor basketball court with a bar and music.

Only good part was being on the mid level watching below.

Heard the first couple of weeks have been quite busy, although younger crowd than expected (heard it was very collegiate).

Opening with a 3 am...nice and way to do it right!!

Sounds like my concerns on how layout would work are playing out.

Hopefully this will not hinder the long-term success of this 2.6MM venture.

Big money club projects do not have a good track record in STL (64 West, Atomix/The Rail).

Will be in town second week of October to check it out myself.

Will give a full report afterwards.

crowd is 25-35 ... dinner just started but is keeping with the same age group maybe 40ish..Chef has quite a resume and i can attest the food is very good and reasonably priced.

in my opinion they do need another stairway to the second level to better handle the sell out crowds .. but the front "waterfall"and lower level VIP areas are quiet enough to talk and still have atmosphere. The 3rd level VIP and outdoor patio are a nice get get away from the crowd space..

other than the access yo the second level it's quite a place .. that's my opinion and you know what they say about opinions .. they're like a**holes .. everone has one and most stink!

Looking forward stumbling out of there on friday night for the first time... We have the big room reserved for 30 (18 of which are ladies), so it should be a nice time... I've been to many of the Vegas lounges (pure, light, tao, jet, studio 54, and tabu) so I'll let you know how it stacks up...

PostOct 08, 2007#42

^ I went on friday with a the big group. I'm not a big fan of the main room downstairs... It just seemed lame to me when it wasn't full. I also thought the damn chandelier was too bright. I'm a much bigger fan of the upstairs and rooftop.

btw, our waitress was the insidestl girl next store... chi ca chi ca bow wow [-o<

Some other operator will take it over, slap a new name and sign on it and believe they can succeed.

Unfortunately, it will fail again without a complete redesign.

Shame, because the building offers a clear span ceiling.

Design options are limitless...whatever you want within the four walls.

I know the people that ran/owned this club just before closing. Although, they didn't specifically indicate why they're closing I'm quite sure it wasn't a money issue. This establishment made plenty of money. However, the owner of the building seemed to be having financial difficulties. They invested nearly $1.5 million in the purchase and renovation of this building. Once the initial Lush venture didn't prove as profitable as needed the building owner approached the people I know to purchase the club, but not the building. When I spoke to them yesterday they indicated they would be opening a new club soon, but not at this location.

Why would an establishment that was making plenty of money close? I'm guessing they either lost their liquor license, were going broke, or the owner didn't renew the lease.

The issue seems to involve the building owner and the club operator no longer coming to terms.

I and partners own the building that houses LUSH and i can assure you we have and will continue to make our payments. Ikazy1 is krazy and clearly does not know anything about the situation.

The Lush issue is a technicality with their liquor license from when they bought the LLC from the previous owner.

My partner and i have nothing to do with the club and never have, so why would we approach anyone about buying something we don't own?

also note we invested 2.5 million in the purchase and renovation, not 1.5 million, seems iKazy didn't get any of the facts right.
