It mentions residential on page 2

$50 million residential/retail development in the surrounding area;

I would still like to see some more renderings.

There is a construction webcam up on the Pinnacle website. Can someone post it like the webcam on the Maryland Walk thread? that is you can see the updates without clicking on the link. thanks

Clearer renderings. Looks like the southern base might resemble structures on LaClede's Landing.

This is really going to alter the character of Laclede's Landing--for better or for worse, I don't know. It's also going to contribute to a gapped skyline, as this structure and the Bottle District's towers will make a "north skyline" separated from the "south skyline" by the massive Edward Jones dome.

All the more reason to build more tall buildings. Fill in the gap. I believe that there are some parking lots behind the dome/convention center screaming to be built upon.

That would be great. Still, for the time being, we'll have a gapped skyline. See Boston for an example--though ours will be less extreme.

I'd much rather have a gap in the skyline than no skyline. It may look a little odd, but the most impressive look at the skyline actually comes from the north or south, were the massing is much greater, and it really extends all the way out to Clayton, with 3 large gaps.

I tried to do a "future skyline rendering" that many could and should do way better than what I've done:

The proportions are probably off and possibly even the placement but I encourage someone to do better.

I like how the skyline will look facing West. The BD towers and BP Village towers will look like kick butt "bookends" for all of the older buildings in between.

If some more towers could be built just behind the EDJ Dome then it would fill in nicely.

Thanks for the pic, stlmike.

I'm not saying a gap is terrible and totally detrimental to the skyline. It's just that we will have a minorly skewed skyline, as a matter of fact. It might surprise an outsider that the skew will be to the north and not the south!

However, from that above picture, it appears south downtown will be balanced out a bit with the Ballpark Village towers. That should look great.

Thanks for the rendering stlmike. It does give a nice basic view of how the skyline will look. My guess is that the ballpark village towers will look shorter than shown and that the BD towers will look taller, if everything is built. Really i don't think that the skyline will look gaped at all. As it stands now, downtown's towers seem very spread apart when viewed from the East or West. These new developments will help to some degree, adding both more total towers and improving density in some areas.

I've always felt the skyline looks a bit skinny when viewed across from the Mississippi. The skyline just seems to stop south of I-40 and North of the Dome. The skyline looks wider when viewed from the side. For example from when viewed from the Ralston Headquarters. Gaps or no gaps with the Pinnacle Casino, BD, Ballpark Village and maybe someday future Chouteau Lake development the skyline will really widen.

^my reasoning for the height is that the ballpark village is closer to the point of view in the picture and the bottle district towers are further away. like i said, i am probably wrong in how it would look but i think its a good general idea.

I can't wait for the Ballpark Village towers to go up. I've always been a bit dismayed by the north/south inbalance in the classic "postcard view" of downtown.

Back to the subject... thanks Arch City for the new, improved casino renderings. Much clearer! I still don't know what to make of that "arch" thingy crowning the new tower, though. I guess they think every casino needs a little bit of Vegas.

Driving by the site today I noticed the base for the first tower crane is on site, and the webcam just confirmed it for me. I have seen a construction plan for the site that has four tower cranes up at once.

Is the highrise going to be under construction soon?

The tower crane is going up where the hotel tower will be, so I would assume sometime soon.

It appears they are putting up another crane at the pinnacle sight.....is this one going to be for the tower portion?

There will be a total of four tower cranes. The base for the second one has been there for about two weeks, at the northwestern end of where the hotel tower will be. Most of the piers appear to be finished now, so I would assume the structure will be rising in no time.

And you can see the cranes in the photo area of this forum, under the St Louis webcam thread.

Does anyone know how tall the hotel tower will be? I have read on the pinnacle site and various articles posted that it will be 200 rooms but I didnt see anything about the actual height or how many floors.

The cranes are quite LARGE - oh my - I was surprised and what a great site for drivers (which I was) on the I-70 westbound lanes coming across the river and moving westward towards the express lanes out of the depressed section. The cranes are so impossing and great to see - I can only imagine all the cranes on both sides of I-70 this spring with the Bottle District under construction.

While the pinnacle hotel may not be as interesting, or as tall as the Bottle District Towers, or the Ballpark Village Towers, the building will fill much needed space between the Libeskind towers and the rest of downtown. It's not much, but it'll be helpful.

I heard yesterday on KMOX that Pinnacle had received approval to build a pedestrian tunnel from Lacledes Landing to the Convention Center. Does anyone have details?
