I have to say this is my favorite lightbox 'design.' Keep your eyes peeled for a whole slue of new designs coming in '09.

Are you designing them?

Are you thinking of Bacana Brazil in Chesterfield. I would love to see a good Brazilian steakhouse come in downtown.
Nah, I don't spend much time if any in Chesterfield. I'm not sure what it was. Perhaps I'm just getting old and losing my mind. But a churrascaria would seem to be a great fit at Lumiere. Doesn't everyone equate casinos with decadence?

You might have been thinking of Cafe Brazil in Rock HIll.

I may be wrong, but I think Cafe Brasil closed late last year. I think a churrascaria would work in downtown, and especially at Lumiere Place.

I was really disappointed when plans for Ipanema went as fast as they came- that would have been a great location for that concept. Like Simply Fondue, it was probably something I couldn't have done very often, but I would've been a repeat customer even if my visits weren't all that frequent.

It's possible but I'm not sure. In any case, it now appears to be moot.

^ The possibilities are endless. While I was studying in Italy a couple years ago, they did a light show where they artistically projected some of Leonardo da Vinci's paintings onto the side of a cathedral. May sound boring but supposedly it was very creatively and cleverly done. From what I heard it was awesome, unfortunately I was unable to make the transit ride due to a workers strike (which happens quite frequently there).

Anyway... with all the creative possibilities out there, hopefully Lumiere's Place pushes the envelop a little. While I like some of the designs they've had so far, they are only brushing the surface of what they could (and probably should) do.

I'm curious.... Overall what do you all think of the light box and giant pylon sign?

Personally I think it adds an element of excitement and energy to the area.

^ In general I like it. Compared to other forms the building could have taken, the lighting works nice. It certainly adds a much needed energy to the skyline. Additionally, I like seeing it in the distance while driving north on 4th Street into downtown; it gives a nice terminus to the view.

My only complaints are that some of the lighting schemes seem a bit... tacky. But it is a casino, so maybe I have too high of expectations.

It does look a bit tacky until you realize the entire building is programmed to accomodate different color schemes then it becomes that much better( I think you were talking about the lights on the building). I love it the most while driving accross the MLK towards the city at night.

I will say this though, for casinos I think it fits into place. Its not too extravagant and not to flashy. It just seems to add some of the much needed character to the St. Louis skyline.

So. Damn. Cool.

Who knows, maybe next will be Rush'n Attack or Castlevania. If we're really lucky, they remember up up down down left right left right BA start; they'll be able to fight aliens all night if they do that.

They definitely weren't down for experimentation the first few weeks when the dang thing was white forever. Oh, I already said that.

January is on pace to be the third consecutive record month. Coin in this past Friday just missed setting a new record. Looks like LP is finally finding it's groove. 'They' say it takes new properties 1.5+ years to iron out the kinks.

Sadly, your brain has forgotten. UP, UP, DOWN, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, B, A, start (or select, start for 2 players) grants 30 lives.

Don't worry. I had to look it up to make sure I was right. Oh the days of being 7 and playing Contra. :D

The big billboard along I-70 is set up in perfect landscape mode to play PacMan, Galaga or Tetris. I'd love to hack that thing and play from my hotel room.

True but I said infinate lives...
Contra Infinite Lives

To start the game with infinite lives press UP, DOWN, UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, A, B, A, B, Select and then Start at the demo screen (when it says "Jungle").

Is it sad that I heart both the Konami Code AND the Partridge Family? Sing that while playing some Contra, and I'm a smitten girl.

Back on topic... boy, how about that, um, Lumiere Casino... which I haven't been to... *whistles and backs away*

I have been enjoying the building lately.

I also really like the new Four Seasons Hotel sign on the south side of the tower - it's huge! nice addition.
