Will exterior cleaning/sandblasting be taking place soon? The building is going to look great once the outside is done.

I was there last Sunday at the grand opening. I specifically asked the man in charge there (can't recall his name) when they would finish cleaning the exterior. He said the developers had water blasted the brick and that was it. He thought the brick look good. I do not!

Me neither - the brick looks filthy right now! The base of the building looks good, but the brick on the upper floors certainly do not.

The facade looks a little cleaner/better than it did last week...

I sure wish they would rebuild the cornice on that building.

Took a tour today...here is some info:

-Flamingo Bowl won't be open until about October. The women & men's boutique is scheduled for September

-The new elevator is very nice. Very smooth, quiet, and fast.

-Rooftop deck/pool coming along nicely but it's not as big as you would expect

-Resident entrance is being worked on. They knocked out a small portion of a wall in the back to create the space.

-Saw a two-story unit and it was VERY impressive. There are a few residents that have purchased two units and are combining them to make a custom unit. Here is a pic of the two-story and then a pic of the parking garage progress

All of the barricades have been removed from the front. You can now see the complete storefront windows and inside of the first level.

Just a couple of comments from what I saw of this building:

I think the outside was awesome. I really like the first floor windows, and the facade is very nicely done.

It was also cool that people were able to see whatever unit they wanted, but I noticed a lot of the units have have these really long hallways that you really can't do anything with...doesn't that seem like a lot of wasted space?

Also...I hope for the sake of anyone facing the old Days Inn that something is done with it quickly. I don't think that's something I would want to see outside my window every day.

Walked by today, and, assuming I was looking in the right window, they have not even started on this yet. It is just a large, gutted, raw space. The Flamingo Bowl sign still says "Opening Summer 2006" though.

I think the Open in October was a bit ambitious. It doesn't look like it has even been started. I hope I'm wrong though, been looking forward to it for quite some time.

I don't know if this is a requisite, or just a happenstance...but it seems as though most of the first level retail are opening/being finished after the rest of the building is done.

i spoke with patrick about this about a month ago. they needed to complete development of the residential units and move out all of the equipment before construction on the flamingo bowl could begin. well, things are FINALLY cleared out in there. that being said, i cant see it being done anytimre before christmas. early 07 more likely. also will be interesting to see how they use the space as it is a bit of an awkward setup for bowling. probably wont be too many lanes...

on the bright side, am loving living at lucas lofts. well, besides the fact that our internet still doesnt work ;)

Are these statements still true? I walked by last Friday, and neither space looked remotely close to anything but raw, vacant space. What's up with this?

EDIT: Okay, I reread the past few threads, and looks like my questions have already been answered. Although any updates would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Just curious to how the pool turned out here? Anyone have pics to post? I know in some other developments the original pool designs ended up falling a bit short. So is the pool finished and how is it?

I've got a nice view of it from the 10th floor of the Meridian... I've been wondering if it's as small as it looks or if the distance makes it look smaller than it is. Now I know!

I slept through math, but a modest 20 ft x 10 ft x 4 ft swimming pool and a small wooden deck weighs something like 60,000 pounds when the pool is filled.

^ Then go with the hot tub instead of a pool. Pools are more expensive to build, maintain, and increases your HOA fee.

What has happened to the Retail developments in this building? I saw that the womens boutique has moved down to the Fashion Square and no signs of any construction on any of the other first floor spaces.

St.Louis UAB alumni wrote:Here is more info from the thing today:

1. The women's boutique will open in August. It is not the same owner as the men's boutique but they have some kind of partnership. The owner is very nice and is moving into the building with her boyfriend.

2. The cigar store will have an underground speak easy.

3. A trim has been added to the walls in the lofts and some lofts will have balconies.

4. The elevators are supposed to be "break neck" speed.

5. The rooftop deck is not what I expected. It's going to be elevated on a steel frame about 7 feet high. The pool is VERY small but the views are awesome.

6. The bowling alley will be over 20,000 feet.

7. There was no mention of a restaurant outside of the one associated with Flamingo Bowl.

8. The walls in the common areas are painted different colors on every floor. They look very good with the brick and hardwood floors.

Pictures coming soon.

You know, I'm beginning to question whether or not the intention of these retail plans were to spur interest in the development to get people to buy or if they really planned on opening things there.

If you remember, when this development was first announced they said they were going to have a rooftop club called "W.A. Sky Bar"...this along with Flamingo Bowl spurred interest. Then they changed that as people started signing contracts and said they would have the men's & women's boutique, the cigar bar w/ underground speakeasy, and the bowling alley.

At first the bowling alley was supposed to be completed by June, and then they delayed until October citing that they were using that space for construction materials and equipment. Now that the loft is finished NOTHING has taken place in the street level retail and one future tenant is going to open up shop in another building down the street.

I dunno...seems a little fishy to me.

So you would prefer empty space over a Joe Edwards run bowling alley?????

I'm just curious as to what you would like to see.
