I think Laclede's Landing is going to have a rebirth here pretty soon. I think those apartments down there on the Landing are going to fill in, and I predict we'll hear about the first infill project on the Landing in 100+ years being proposed no later than 2023 or maybe '24.
I think it is a toss up as I can see Landing/near northside have these nice rehabs come  together but also see a infill as being left behind for more favorable locations as it is viewed for better or worse (where it is already happening in the city - West dowtown through the central corridor).   I just feel a fundamental shift needs to happen on two fronts - fire and foremost on the infrastructure side is removal of the raised section of freeway (restore the grid) and a to a lesser extent a Convention Center phase II vision/plan forward.

On infrastrrcture, I think it will bode well for the Landing in the long term and therefore a much safer infill bet if somehow some of the grid between downtown and Landing/near northside can be re established.  Isolation only helps those who are fearful and the short term hot entertainment districts that will always move about (sound familiar).   Mayor Jones could make a big play for city by doing something a little more bold but something doable and won't break the bank.  For me that could be pushed along with a chunk of the Rams settlement.

On convention center front I think  it couldn't hurt to know if Dome is long term fixture or not, will expansion be in south east corner (do you encourage more parking in Landing to encourage foot traffice, etc), and will the bottle work site be  desired or not.  Talk about an opportunity to buy up the Bottle Works property (Rams Settlement), carve back into the gird and sell/infill on parcel basis.

Sounds like the Morgan Street Brewery building just sold.

Will Morgan Street Brewery continue to occupy the space, or are they relocating... or are they shuttering?

Did the building that houses MSB sell or did the building on the west side of the lot sell, which housed the MSB “club”

I don't know about ownership status but the club building has been undergoing active interior demo for the past month or so now.

Hopefully truly not the end of an era.  The cheap pitchers, lack of college kids, and pool tables were great.

Say what you want about the beer, it's a Landing landmark.

That sounds to me like a permanent shuttering.

Perhaps this provides another brewery in St. Louis a chance to take up that space and grow their presence.

I’ll never forget that men’s room in the back. Just a rectangular bathroom with urinals on the side and a shitter Right in the middle. No privacy dividers or anything. When the door opened you could see everything. I would have rather sh*t in the alley.

City should pay Still 630 and a restauranteur some incentives to move down there so we can finally get rid of the old Hardee's.  2 for 1!

Interior demo in full swing in the Hoffman and Greeley lofts. GRG owned parking garage is still standing. New plaza is still basically finished and fenced off.

Looks like they are finally tired of waiting for the trellis

^ Hopefully the "investigation" doesn't take long. They should just call up MADE STL and have them whip up a metal trellis real quick :)

The parent company of the downtown Horseshoe St. Louis casino has purchased the closed restaurant Big Daddy’s on the Landing, as its leader says it hopes to see more residential and office uses in the area.

An entity tied to the casino in January purchased two adjoining properties, 118 Morgan St. and 718 N. 2nd St., for a combined $1.2 million. Together, the two properties, including restaurant and patio space, measure about 10,000 square feet, according to city records.

New owner Tropicana St. Louis LLC is linked to Caesars Entertainment Inc. (Nasdaq: CZR), the Las Vegas-based casino firm that operates the Horseshoe, rebranded in May from Lumière Place. A different company, real estate investment trust Gaming and Leisure Properties Inc. (Nasdaq: GLPI), owns the Horseshoe property.

Big Daddy’s owner Ryan Loeffler said he shuttered the bar in January 2021 and sold it a year later because plans to revive the district as a residential area would not come soon enough to bring sufficient patrons to ensure the location was as successful as other locations he could open. He operates four other restaurants: Big Daddy's Soulard, Big Daddy's 618 in Belleville, Big Daddy's Edwardsville and Silver Creek Saloon in Belleville. And Loeffler is now looking at options for a fourth Big Daddy’s site.

The only reason they bought it was to make the problem bar go away. The main question is…what’s the casino going to do with it?

If the new casino operators want to actually become active partners when it comes to reviving the Landing I will take back every negative thing I've ever said about the stupid "Horseshoe" name.

When Lumiere was built the Landing was still a mostly successful entertainment district that brought people to the area and casino. Letting the Landing wither on the vine was a terrible business decision for Lumiere as they no longer get the random walk-in traffic they likely factored into their business plan.

Not only would the casino hopefully make a profit from reopening a successful establishment at the former Big Daddy's, but attracting more patrons to the Landing will drive some of them through the casino doors as well. Hopefully they don't just let this sit and rot like Sundeckers (which does anybody know if that's still owned by the casino?)

Landing property owners protested the liquor license for Big Daddy’s after 3 people were shot and a host of other issues that didn’t jive with residential development. Even though they secured enough signatures to shut them down, the city instead placed conditions on the license. Big Daddy’s still never reopened after the protest but the possibility was still there, so the casino bought the property and kicked the bar out.

The possibility of the casino having some grand development plan is unlikely. The Sundeckers building is more proof. It would be nice if they did though.

Will Ester's Alley consist of more than a garden, new murals, and strung lights; or will there be residential, retail, restaurant access (from what is currently known as Clamorgan Alley)?

Not sure about the need for a name change, but I could see how this could be nice and successful. The alley will connect you directly with the Arch grounds and Metrolink, but it more importantly is flanked by two lots -- 1st & Lucas, 1st & Morgan -- that are ripe for new-build projects if current projects on the Landing are successful. The 1st & Morgan lot could even be broken into two parcels, allowing Ester's/Clamorgan Alley to run from the Arch grounds to Laclede's Landing Blvd., making this a three-block stretch as opposed to the one block it is right now.

Both of the buildings on the west side of the alley are under renovation right now to be apartments and a new sandwich shop just opened on the first floor of one of them
