I’m a member over there and I remember Stranger Things. Maybe he recommended the recommendations made by Forumers over there. One thing is a positive here, it won’t look the same as Two Light.ldai_phs wrote:For better or for worse: The new design incorporates a number of KCRAG suggestions.chriss752 wrote:As ugly as it comes. Looks a bit like the meth head twin sister of One Cardinal Way.

All of the Light towers look fine by themselves, but when viewed together they remind me a little of communist housing.
^^ LOL they did kind of rip off the top of OCW. Having said that, this one seems a bit taller than the other two, so that's nice.
^ I get the comparison since all of the buildings have a very similar look, but this would be some of the nicest communist housing I've seen, and I'm not really even a huge fan of any of them.

In regards to your KCRaG post, I think you may be on to something. The construction drawings show that Three Light’s “bold white lines” are to continue up from the lower floors to the top.(not shown in renderings) The notes show that the slanted glass is to be glazed opaque.(not shown in rendering).chriss752 wrote:I’m a member over there and I remember Stranger Things. Overall, it looks like the drawings are a more accurate representation of the project. The rendering is outdated and just to give bidders a general idea.

Yeah, they only kiiiiiind of remind me of communist housing.
I guess I'm just not a big fan of the towers. Kansas City could have had something far greater.

This isn’t a really bad building though does look a bit like 1CW. I would say height wise between 275-300Ft. Kansas City is definitely rolling on all cylinders when it comes to construction 🏗Hopefully St.Louis can get more proposals and construction going.

I suspect that BPV Phase III will have a pretty similar look to the end phases of P&L. Maybe even a bit bigger/bolder.Wolfpaw wrote: Hopefully St.Louis can get more proposals and construction going.
New KCI Terminal Update:
Terminal A Garage demolition was completed in May. Photo is from the Aviation Department.![]()
Demolition of Terminal A itself began on Thursday. Looks like the construction company has been working 6 day weeks as well.

Usually I'm one for preservation but I'm glad to see these come down. Although my content is mostly due to the preservation of one of the three terminals. I'm still hoping they can get creative with it. A TWA Hotel would be phenomenal.
All of the Terminals are being demolished. Terminal A in 2019. Terminals B and C after the opening of the new terminal. None of the 3 will exist after 2028.....aprice wrote:Usually I'm one for preservation but I'm glad to see these come down. Very sad to hear. I was under the impression that they were saving C. Still excited for the new airport though.ldai_phs wrote:

There's actually some neat features in either B or C. (Can't quite recall which.) They have a really cool linoleum polar-projection map on the floor. (Maybe several of them in succession.) They really aren't much to write home about, but I expect there are some folks as have fond memories there. And while they've never really worked as airports in the modern "security" era, they're not horrible for all that. I knew folks as liked them once upon a time.
But logistics don't run on nostalgia too well, so . . . best luck with the new.

The flooring you are referring to is terrazzo, fyi... a bit of a nicer material than linoleumsymphonicpoet wrote: There's actually some neat features in either B or C. (Can't quite recall which.) The floors are about the only thing I'm disappointed about losing from MCI, other than that there is almost no other redeeming quality about that airport. I flew into it yesterday and the whole thing is just awful, the BBQ smell when I walked off the jetway was a nice touch though. This new terminal can't come soon enough.train_bike wrote:The flooring you are referring to is terrazzo, fyi... a bit of a nicer material than linoleumsymphonicpoet wrote: There's actually some neat features in either B or C. To add to some earlier comments, I would have liked C to be saved too. I think the idea of a hotel or even moving the TWA Museum there is a fantastic one. But I suppose it would be quite an expense to renovate that building into something else. In addition, maintenance and upkeep while the city waited for someone with deep enough pockets to come in and do something wouldn't likely be very cheap either. Demolition is probably the most financially prudent course of action for the city at this point.

^I've seen some very nice lino floors. Depends on who laid them and how artsy they got with it. That said, I'll take your word for it. Saw them once many many years ago. If terrazzo, they would have been about the most artistic terrazzo floors I've ever seen.
Can confirm that the floors are Terrazo. Some sections of the flooring were saved for reuse in the new terminal.symphonicpoet wrote:^I've seen some very nice lino floors. SP, I bet you've seen some pretty elaborate terrazzo floors but just didn't know they were terrazzo. The Muny's for instance: http://vanishingstl.blogspot.com/2011/0 ... eated.htmlsymphonicpoet wrote: ^I've seen some very nice lino floors. Depends on who laid them and how artsy they got with it. ^I actually haven't set foot in the Muny in nearly forty years. I . . . uh . . . got accustomed to getting paid for that sort of thing elsewhere. Now that I'm back in town and have friends that play there I really ought to fix that oversight.
