The vote isn't passing in my opinion.

Eastern Jackson County suburbanites who lean right won't vote for it because of fears about crime, parking, the convenience of Kauffman. Despite the fact they are leaving the K regardless. The area Truman Sports Complex is in might well be the worst in the country to host major sports teams. Calling it a dump would be generous.

The left leaning urban vote don't want it because of subsidies for billionaires and the social justice aspect of displacing existing buildings and tenants. Which I agree with to an extent and should have been handled better but lets not kid ourselves either that area isn't filled with parking craters, underutilized buildings and is generally desolate.

The teams have handled it horribly. The Royals had the East Village site lined up for so long then Cordish got in their ear. It is a better site at the  Crossroads but this sh*t can't be rushed. On top of that the Chiefs still haven't released anything and the vote is closing on barely a month.

I live through here just now not through choice but circumstance (Johnson County) and KC is as bad for the car centric mentality as any city in the US and I've lived in a few and visited most major metros. STL with three/four Downtown stadiums and a fairly robust light rail system feels like London or New York by comparison. I had some hope with the street car extension and the prospect of a Downtown stadium for the Royals but if this fails I am seriously considering looking to get back out.

The Chiefs will unveil their vision for the renovation of Arrowhead Stadium on Wednesday.

Chiefs to share Arrowhead Stadium renovation plans this week
The Kansas City Chiefs will share their vision for Arrowhead Stadium renovations this week, team leaders announced.

The team plans to hold a press release Wednesday morning to present their initial renovation concepts for the stadium. Chiefs Chairman Clark Hunt and President Mark Donovan will be in attendance. The renovation plans come as Jackson County residents prepare to vote in April on a 3/8th-cent sales tax for Chiefs and Royals stadium projects. Revenue from the sales tax, if approved, would go toward Arrowhead renovations and a new Royals stadium in the Crossroads District. There’s also been speculation that the Chiefs would expand throughout the Truman Sports Complex if Kauffman Stadium is demolished.
The two teams will be on the same ballot question on April 2 when Jackson County voters head to the polls.
But even once the Chiefs release their renovation plans, several questions remain about both stadium projects. Jackson County’s letter of intent still requires more details released on the new lease terms and a community benefits agreement.

Man, lots of opportunity for KC lately... let's hope they can find a way to make these owners pay their fair share.

If the KC stadium ends up in Crossroads, Main street needs to go car free, at least until Union Station. Between baseball and the Current stadium, capacity is going to be a serious issue for the streetcar on gamedays.

KC’s Parade Park Homes could be replaced with over 1,000 new residences
A redevelopment plan for Parade Park Homes could tear down most existing structures in phases to make way for more than 1,000 new residences, including hundreds of affordable apartments under Kansas City’s standards.

Flaherty & Collins Properties and Twelfth Street Heritage Development Corp. propose a total of 1,065 residences, including different types of units for rent and sale, according to preliminary plans shared with Parade Park Homes residents, viewed by the Kansas City Business Journal. The residences would be built in three phases and be offered first to existing residents of the historic Black-owned housing cooperative. The plans hinge on the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development acquiring Parade Park through a March 11 foreclosure sale.

Incorporated in 1963, Parade Park Homes includes 510 units in 46 row buildings. About one-third, or 166 units, had active leases as of late November.

The Chiefs unveiled proposed improvements to Arrowhead once the Royals leave for their proposed downtown baseball stadium.

All they do is add parking and turn the Kaufmann footprint into an "Activation Area"

Yeesh, uninspiring vision for the area.

Unfortunately will probably be enough to convince suburbanites worried about stadium financing and parking to vote for the continuation of the tax.

A bland downtown stadium which requires demolition of street grid and buildings + a bland update to a giant parking field with no mixed-use development.

KC needs to reject this and send both teams back to the drawing board.

That sure is underwhelming. That's how they celebrate back-to-back championships?

It's funny to me that the Royals, a faulty team under the ownership of John Sherman (someone who people here crap on for being a "cheap bastard" and the "killer of the team", yet spends tens of millions to keep Bobby Whitt Jr. on the team for a decade), want to go all-in on Downtown and not build any new parking + explore extending the South Loop Park among other things.

Meanwhile the Chiefs, a back-to-back Super Bowl winning team headed up by the Hunts (which people over here rip on for rightfully being cheap people with substandard grades of their facilities) plan to double-down on the sea of parking hell that is the Sports Complex.

Only today have I seen people actually admit that the Royals plans are the better of the two visions for the future of each team, which is. not something people thought would be the case going into today's announcement.

How could a "village" type development succeed next to Arrowhead?  Not enough games to make it worth while.  Food trucks and mobile vendors make sense though.

Looks garbage, Kauffman basically blown up for parking as if an existing 20,000 spaces isn't enough. The Hunts as seen in today's NFLPA survey are tightwad owners. Amazing to think it's been the Royals getting sh*t on, this proposal from the Chiefs is pathetic.

This vote is doomed. Chiefs to Kansas and Royals relocating is my eventual prediction.

Random thoughts:
  1. the Chiefs are really really proud of their huge parking lot
  2. the new VIP roads and parking garage just scream elitism

That being said I have seen the challenges faced of getting the visiting team buses in to the complex. You can tell they are coming as the police coordinate pretty well to shut down traffic and escort the other team in through the traffic.

The Chiefs actually ARE proud of their parking lot, as they have one of the best tailgate scenes in the country.

I have to imagine that the Kaufmann footprint will eventually see development.

Mattel has announced a new theme park in Kansas City Kansas.

Google finally announced plans for some of the land they’ve been buying around the city. $1billion DC. I think they own around 1,000 acres now across KCMo.

Manufacturer to build $76M facility in KCK, bringing 600 jobs to area
A window and door manufacturer will build a new $76.5 million facility in Kansas City, Kansas, bringing 600 jobs to the area.

Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly announced Thursday that Marvin will open a 400,000-square-foot manufacturing facility at the Scannell 435 Logistics Center, site of the former Woodlands racetrack. “Marvin’s investment emphasizes that my administration’s approach to attracting business into our state is working,” Kelly said in a release. “We are delivering on our commitment to making Kansas the best place to live, work, and raise a family.”  Marvin hopes to have the new space completed in 2025, employing about 100 people full time by that point. By 2028, Marvin expects to employ a 600-person workforce in the area.

“Marvin has been on a significant growth trajectory over the past six years,” Marvin CEO and Chair of the Board Paul Marvin said. “Investing in additional facilities not only is strategic for continued growth but also will help meet current and anticipated short-term demand in the marketplace.”

The redevelopment of the large complex at Independence and Hardesty in Northeast KC is moving ahead. Attachments have been uploaded to the city's Compass website for review and includes elevations of alterations to smaller buildings on site plus a table explaining what building will have what. This has been talked about for a while now and is incredibly significant for this part of the city. Most of the apartments will be affordable and workforce.

This is definitely not a St.Louis resident for one he said St.Louis didn’t support the cardinals or Rams and he never mentions anything about voting no he just said a vote no would hurt the region & a possible move elsewhere which would likely be Kansas & not St.Louis. My thing is why is St.Louis always thrown into their bull crap why use us as a target we have other stuff to worry about im sick of it.
