Wasn't that the site of the Gills 5-story development?
Any more tasty morsels to dish out? :D

db can correct me if I'm wrong but it sounds like essentially the same plan but tweaked a bit.... I do know the Gills have their offices down the street so I don't think it would house them like in the original plan.

Hoping it's still 4-5 stories.
I was so bummed when this died. It would visually anchor the area, give the area some good old, Roman gravitas.

^ Anyone see any reports im the main stream media - Don't believe PD and or Biz Journals have reported on it. Like everyone else, curious what or if any changes to the project. Obviously a lot more ground space with Gils own business already moved or moving into a separate space. Also curious if they are going to pursue same surface parking lot that was associated with their first go around or if the revised project will include parking.

^ biz journal usually reports about 2 months after the ground is broken....

it's 5 stories, final design due in the fall. I got the new rendering but out of respect for my source I'll keep it private until someone else leaks it :)

also some action of the WashU RFP is swirling

Too bad these folks will have nothing but a blank, two-story brick wall to look at across the street.

But their is beer inside those walls. Have to consider the pluses to the situation

^ Art installation/mural? Street trees would help, too.

Great to hear this project has a pulse again, and to see the CWE construction boom continue to spill over into the groove.

I can't help but think this is somehow related to their Chemical ambitions not materializing.

The Gills' 4400 Manchester project will be called Gateway Lofts and work may start as soon as this week. Target date for open is next summer

I'd trade a Newstead curb cut for an infill project of this scale any day.

Remember to average its scale with its surface parking lot.

They had the ceremonial ground breaking this morning. Doesn't look like the building permit has been issued yet. I presume it's imminent.

I've lost track, how many different developments are happening now in the Grove?

^ There are three sizeable new construction projects on Manchester (two just getting underway with construction and one -- the Spencer project via the city RFP - still rather early on) along with a couple smaller mixed-use historic rehabs. And then quite a bit elsewhere in FPSE.

I love living next to all of this development (The Hill). Walking through the Grove on the weekends these past 3 years is really something to see

I hear ya!
We looked at a nice rehab on Arco back in 2004.
Loved the house but the area was so...vacant, isolated and depressing. Times change.
