^ Moved the Lawrence Group mixed-use rehab of the 4100 Lindell Remington Rand building to under construction... Eagle Bank had their groundbreaking ceremony this past week. (Same week that Reliance Bank held their grand opening ceremony in the Grove.... nice that these banks were forced to serve the community!)

edit... also added the S. Grand Starbuck's and Saint Margaret of Scotland Middle School to Under Construction.

PostMar 04, 2015#50

I believe both the 700 Market/Laclede Gas and Shriner's hospital projects are beginning move-in this month and Loop Trolley is set to start construction. Also, the Arch parking garage will be demolished this week and the Penguins will be marching back to their ice palace at the zoo. March is shaping up to be a pretty good one for project milestones.

PostMar 13, 2015#51

Moved the Skinker/Clayton bike/ped and Loop Trolley public works projects to the Under Construction column and added the 33 unit rehab/new construction proposal for 4528-4536 Olive to the Planned list.

PostApr 09, 2015#52

Things seem to have been really quiet lately on announcements.... just a few changes:

- the S. Kingshighway "Bowersox Insurance" building residential rehab and 5959 ArtWorks conversion projects have had their permits approved so I moved them to the Under Construction column

- I took off the planned 1703 S. Tucker townhomes in Bohemian Hill off the list as the permit application was cancelled.

PostApr 22, 2015#53

Eugene Field House expansion gets underway on Friday with a groundbreaking and yesterday the donut shop was demolished for the new 20 unit, mixed-use building in the Grove.

Couple changes.....

-- moved the West Pine residential project at the ACI Plastics site to under construction as demo has begun (actually there was a serious accident to workers last week)
-- added the Hi-Point Backlot second screen to completed
-- added the SLU Ambulatory Care project to proposed. (just east of Grand b/w Rutger & Hickory)

PostMay 08, 2015#56

Added the residential conversion of the former Lafayette School in Soulard (by the same folks who did the Hope Lutheran conversion) and the senior apartments "Vandeventer Place" project, both to proposed.

PostMay 11, 2015#57

Added the proposed Cortex expansion of the @4240 Building and the 2209 Olive and the "Intrada Lofts" buildings presby mentioned to the planned column.

PostMay 14, 2015#58

Nextstl is reporting that an apartment building is being proposed for Pershing in the DeBalivere Place nabe on existing tennis courts. Not sure how many units yet but it is slated to go before the Preservation Commission this month so should hear more soon.

http://nextstl.com/2015/05/new-apartmen ... -pershing/

That is getting pretty close to the Metrolink stop, which reminds me to ask when the heck are we going to see TOD at their darn parking lot?

PostMay 22, 2015#59

Adding two projects on Delmar in the West End nabe....

renovation of the old Delmar High School for the Loop Trolley maintenance facility, which should be a major improvement for this current eyesore and the new construction of a three-story, 20,000 sq. ft. adolescent health facility that will be immediately east of Ruth Porter Park at the head of Debalivere.

A few changes....

the 1907 Locust commercial/office renovation has been completed and the Rothschild apartment project on Olive in CWE has been issued its permit so I moved that to under construction. Also of note, OPUS has filed for its building permit for the Lindell Tower.

I'm also tempted to take off the Tempest Distillery project but I hope it moves forward.

Edit... I also decided to put the OPUS project, Chouteau's Grove, and Tech Shop in the under construction column even though building permits haven't been issued quite yet as demo has begun and all should begin new construction soon. Kept US Metals Cortex site in the planned column because although demo has begun, we haven't seen any specific building plans. etc. yet.

PostJun 01, 2015#64

^ Also added a couple residential projects in North City and the Delmar Loop Trolley Maintenance facility to Under Construction. In the Central Corridor, added the rehab of the vacant apartment building under renovation at 39th & Lafayette and in South City added the proposed infill townhomes on S. 9th & quirky residential/retail/carwash on Allen, both in Soulard, and the container Empire Cafe on Cherokee.

PostJun 02, 2015#65

Added the SLU dorm under construction at Spring and Laclede and dropped the mysterious "replacement" parking garage for the Arch that was awarded to Drury and was to go on Third Street. I do look forward to seeing how many more people flow into and patronize downtown now that it will take on a greater parking ratio over the riverfront for Arch visitors.

^ The original plan was to have the new garage well under construction by now, if not opened by the fall anniversary date, but there hasn't even been a permit application yet. My speculation is that with the Metro relocation they are not moving forward with the garage, at least in the near term. (Metro was the owner and big user of the old garage and will no longer need spaces in the Landing.) Landing also faved a tweet of mine asking CAR if the garage was moving forward. (Crickets from CAR although they have responded to other tweets.) I'm sure the garage owners in the CBD are happy.

And while we are on the subject of garages. I did see Grand Center last month applied (zoning only at this point) for their proposed parking garage on the surface lot on Washington across from the Fox.

PostJun 05, 2015#68

Added a few completions to the Central Corridor. Occupancy permits have been issued for the Traveller's Insurance residential conversion in Grand Center (5 units) & while not open yet. both the new AT Still and Shriner's buildings are now completed.

PostJun 06, 2015#69

^ Added yet a few more projects with our favorite Presbyterian tweeting some nice finds...

- the Charless Home on S. Broadway is probably one of the city's oldest surviving buildings and is in for an $8.5 million renovation for senior residential. Bethesda actually owned it for a bit but bowed out a few years ago and it is now back under the control of the Charless Foundation. Steve Patterson covered the issue back when its future seemingly was in jeopardy.

http://www.urbanreviewstl.com/2012/03/c ... uncertain/

- an adult day care company is renovating a sizeable, vacant (1470) S. Vandeventer warehouse for its offices (unclear if there will be any on-site care provided there); I really look forward to more of that stretch of Vandeventer b/w 44 & the Grove becoming activated; there's been at least three quality projects in the past year and even if the cool "Vandergrove" vision doesn't come about with a roundabout, etc. it still should become a vastly improved area over the next few years.

- a renovation of the historic firehouse at Washington and 20th (details not known yet).

And via nextstl a historic, formerly mixed-use vacant corner building at Jefferson and Miami is proposed for a 4 unit residential rehab.

Great stuff!

There's surely some good renovating & new construction going on around the city with more to come albeit some not to our liking particularly new construction however we all have to remember that not everyone shares the same taste & quality like others. I personally believe Saint.Louis is the most under the radar underrated city while I'm completely fine with Kansas City Minneapolis Cleveland Detroit Chicago getting all the accolades. We'll get ours when the time is there.
