In my experience, such persons usually are "nice" guys (gals). That's how they get away with so much...until they don't.innov8ion wrote:^ I think what saltearth meant was that if a person were to defraud bank(s) and endanger the public's health, it couldn't have been crafted by a nicer guy.

My encounters with the "last guy" left me thinking he was a creep.
Sounds like good news on the new guy.

A boarded-up eyesore in downtown St. Louis took a step toward revival Wednesday when a city panel agreed to help support a $11.5 million plan to put 39 apartments and street-level retail in the building.
Peter D. George, whose Blue Shutters Development bought the 14-story Ford building in October for $3.1 million, hopes to begin the one-year renovation in the spring. The city's Tax Increment Financing Commission voted Wednesday to recommend the Board of Aldermen approve $900,000 in TIF aid.

i'm hoping to supply blue shutters dev. with green flooring and countertops for this exciting project. i think it would add great value, and our prices will not require tenant rent cost to rise as a result. this is my first post on this site but i'm no stranger to it - it's a great resource for those who care about seeing our city move into a more progressive and sustainable place. if you have not yet heard of my company, it's called Mwanzi Green Building Supply. Please visit our website at www.mwanzi.com, spread the word, and I would love to hear from you. Cheers!

I'm very surprised that this building hasn't been demolished. I can only hope that if this can be made to work in times like these that downtown has a very bright future when things eventually turn around.

Me too. We could use another plaza there instead, so people can appreciate the view of the plaza across the street.

Saw 8-10 workers last week and today doing construction on the ground level. Wonder if this project is starting back up? Anybody know anything about this? Looked like some demo work.

With this spot by the Main Library, Scottrade, and the Soldier's Memorial, it is sort of a high profile lot. I really hope this gets dont and turns out nicely.
DeBaliviere wrote:Is work underway? I haven't been down there in a while.
Demolition has been underway for a few months and I saw them hoisting what looked to be HVAC equipment in the other day. From the outside it appears that interior demolition is complete.
The Ford Residences has been renamed the P.D George. Blue Shutters development is converting the building into rental apartments.

Good to see.
Hopefully the project finally goes through.

Very nice to see. Windows make all the differance. No more "abandoned building" look.
Do these windows match the original? They're very similar to the "Chicago Window" from the turn of the century. At any rate, it's nice to see that they actually open.

Good to see. While not the most ornate, it sure is a handsome building.
I really like this building too Shimmy. This is a good project. I cant wait until we see some more modern buildings like the Roberts Tower. I feel like more modern infill downtown will really continue to compliment the old brick architecture.

I like that the new windows are similar in appearance to the originals.

I walked by there last Sat night after the Blues Fest, and it looks like people are already living there. Lights were on.
